DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

I once had a boss who told me "Don't come to me with a problem, unless you have a solution." That always makes me think for a second whenever I start bitching about something, how can "I" make this better?

Everyone is frustrated by the lack of updated information and slow progress of the stadium plan. We all would like to see shovels in the ground with cranes and construction crews working furiously to get the project completed. But honestly, complaining about it ad nauseum does not get anything done. Grumbling on message boards only draws the attention of a select few who have mostly the same views.

Most of us have connections to the university, whether it's as a student, alumni, family member, season-ticket holder or booster. What you have to do is use these positions to your advantage. I know most of the officials I have talked to at FAU have been more than happy to discuss the state of the university. And I've met a lot of you at FAU functions who already are out asking questions and pressing for answers. That's what we need to do, that's how things get done.

Now, I'm not proclaiming to have all the answers, but what I am saying is become proactive and focus your energy in the right direction. If you have problems with the BOT, e-mail or call board members to voice your opinion. If you don't like the way Brogan is handling things, contact his office. Hell, even spend some money and join the alumni association or Owl Club, since people donating to the university often get access to people/places the general public doesn't.

Like CanadianOwl mentioned, let your voice be heard, I know that at least the people I have talked to in the past have always taken the time to listen to my concerns and ANY suggestions I might have. It is about getting involved and using the proper channels to voice not your only fustrations, but also gratitude (very important) as well.

Before you write/complain to the BoT, you had better check Ted Hutton's blog to make sure you complain about the right party. He explains the last meeting and includes info we hadn't seen before.
