I want the arena just as much as everyone else, but I was kinda hoping that at the very least, they'd put bathrooms at the baseball stadium before they construct anything else
+1
Yes but don't be surprised if that's not how it goes down. Much more revenue upside to a new arena (which can be used for a number of things) than a baseball renovation (which can only be used for baseball).

I wish I went to this school 15 years from now when all of this while finally be complete
Sooner than that. Five, probably.
But still… beyond your tenure as a student there, yes.
Could always go back as an alumnus like the rest of us… ;D

I don't expect a full renovation for baseball right away, was just hoping they would do something to get some bathrooms in there in the mean time until they can do a full and complete renovation, but I guess in order to put bathrooms in, it wouldn't be a simple fix
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

As far as the preserve goes, I've never really researched it, but I think the area was just called "the preserve" informally, meaining it was not ever intended to be preserved forever, just until that land was needed. I think that may come back to bite FAU in the long run since everyone will think we are bulldozing a "preserve" area, when in fact it may not be. With that said, the upland scrub habitat is increasingly rare and I wish that there was a way for it to be preserved, I just don't see how, were out of room. If they want to stay on the public's good graces though FAU could perform some kind of mitigation in the area. We could have the environmental club or Bio students volunteer to remove invasive species from some other plot of land and maintain it. Creating/maintaining upland habitat is much easier than working with wetlands.

While I'm sure FAU needs extra parking during the semester, the selfish guy in me hopes that they do not force us football fans into the garages on saturdays. I've never tried it, but tailgating in a garage seems pretty lame, and moving stuff back and forth from the garage to tailgate and garage again is not a good option.

Someone made a typo when they made the signs for the area it was suppose to say "Reserved".

They could potentially do that "short-term" fix that I mentioned a while back that would be cheaper than a full scale renovation, and that would include bathrooms. But realistically it's like, if you're going to do this, do it right, you know?
And that means whole buildings, not just bathrooms.

I doubt you'd be forced into anything. It's only going to be 1,000 cars right now and considering that they've thus far designated all parking close to the stadium to be paid VIP parking, that'll probably remain true once the garage is there as well.
Tailgating in a garage would be next to impossible since people would have to come around a lot of blind corners to ascend the structure and that leaves too many possibilities of hitting people (especially kids) who are tossing a football around behind their parked car. That's just… that's just bad.

good point duder. I have a question, who owns that giant empty parking lot behind the stadium. Is that overflow for the airport, or just for gameday parking.
FAU owns it. That strip used to be a landing strip for planes when it was a WW2 base. Same thing over by Athletics - that's why the baseball parking lot and the Oxley parking lot are at that weird angle.
