Latest update on Stadium

I wonder that if we are moving the MSU game up to Detroit or Chicago next year, if we are also trying to get out of the 2011 game or push it back to get a home game here early that season.  Or perhaps, the SBC will alter it's schedule and we'll have a conference game that weekend.

Where's that UCF fan coming on here to talk about how the city will do everything in it's power to shoot this idea down???  ;D

Re: Latest update on Stadium

GREAT news and GREAT to hear strong, unanimous support from the city!!!!!!

No threat of legal stuff from Boca holding up or even stopping construction now!

Sounds like the plan is to open 9/17 by either moving a game or dropping an opponent and adding a new one for the stadium opener.

I say either add a big boy but risk stadium opener loss or blowout, or add say, S. Alabama for a "sure" win, possibly "big" win with lots of excitement! The stadium should be filled either way with the right promo. Let's see how they change the schedule.

I say we should pick a very winnable game. Of course, the last time we did this for an opener, Slippery Rock handed our heads to us....

This is great news!  I though for sure there would be some resistance from the city, but I guess I was wrong.  Now quick, lets start moving some dirt!

What are the next steps? When can we start building?

The next step is securing the bond to build, announcing a naming rights partner and putting up construction fences, right?

They put up construction fences around the preserves to the east of the long runway parking lot, between the runway and the new Rec Center parking lot (the one that's across from the alumni center) and to the west of that parking lot. So basically a good chunk of that front portion of what will eventually become Innovation Village. That's definitely a good sign, even if it's just for infrastructure work.

I tell you what though, we had a TON of people at that game. I hung out with many alumni that haven't been to a football game since, but the inception of the program was big enough for them to attend. I think if we book S. Alabama, we still have a sellout on our hands, and mostly home fans that way too!

In fact, I say we book Slippery Rock again! We owe em one!!

Georgia State is a new program too. let's get one money game a year and three wins to help with confidence and bowl eligibility, two from lower level BCS teams and one from the FCS. Do what the big boys do, follow thier model and prosper!
