I agree, having a temp stadium shows that FAU is attempting to move in the right direction. I also think that a temp stadium is only going to be a good decision if it gets a minimum of two seasons worth of use. Having it for one season just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I agree with Florida_Owl and Owlfan1 with the recruiting, signs of moving forward and I would like to add that if for some reason the 2010 date doesn't exactly work out at least we would be on campus. We also know where we will be and the jump to the finished stadium is just that much sweeter.

thats interesting Canadian Owl, I have been told that the O's will take complete ownership of the facility on Oct. 1 of 2008 and they would like a new facility for spring training in 09 which I assumed meant that the O's would be tearing lockhart down ASAP. That was the problem FAU was facing, they wouldn't be able to use Lockhart next year anyway.

I hope to play on campus. more students will attend and so will more people in Boca, local high school kids, people like that. i think the younger people are the most important fans to the program. plus when people are on campus there more inclined to donate, especially if there hanging out in the new alumni house before the game instead of Lockharts barren fields.

Playing on Campus would be ideal, thought I am a little concern with Parking & Traffic. Until they make a final decision about playing on campus, which they better do something soon, like an announcement during the Spring Game would be awesome, I will be happy with Lockhart.

I do think with the hype that was created with the Bury the Burrow in Red and maybe carry that momentum to continue the excitement during football this season, if it's on Campus.

There are many benefits to playing on campus, if done right.

For those who missed the story bubbling below the surface of American soccer, the City of Fort Lauderdale plans to tear down Lockhart Stadium after next season's baseball Spring Training and build an expanded complex for the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles, predictably, don't want to talk about the deal, but the city doesn't want to lose a six-week cash cow like Spring Training to another city in Arizona. In order to keep the Orioles, a new facility must be built. The site of this new facility, of course, is Lockhart Stadium, considered by many to be the first soccer-specific stadium in the United States."
