Quick Notes from the groundbreaking:

Still going on…

Former inaugural team members, Jared Allen and Anthony Jackson spoke.

Howard Schnellenberger talked about how he sold both of them on FAU, when the school didn’t even have locker rooms or practice fields.

He then talked about what the team will do with the stadium…

“I promise you this, get that stadium up get us in there and were going to do things that nobody thought was possible,” Schnellenberger said.

City of Boca Raton Mayor Susan Whelchel said that during game days, the stadium will bring an impact of $ 1.7 million dollars to local business.

Thats an incredible figure!!

Incredible or overly optimistic. I will take the latter.

I just don't see a $1.7 million dollar impact each time a game is played.

GO OWLS!!!

Obviously depends on ALUMNI coming back to Boca to cheer their Owl's on. Let's all try to get involved and travel to AT LEAST one home game a year, That is for us out-of-staters. In-staters, get to as many as you can afford to! Let's all support the program through thick and thin and we will be out of the Belt before we know it. let me think, do we want to see Arkansas St. or West Virginia, ULM or Houston? And that is the reason we need to get into a better conference ASAP, for the MUCH better in conference home opponents it would provide. Let's fill this place!

I checked Youtube for posting of the event. One was posted fairly quickly.

I believe the estimate is per year not per game.

I'm pretty sure its per game…per year would be a huge disappointment

This is pretty reasonable per game, actually, between the hotel, gas and food.

$1.7M / 30k fans = ~$57 spent in the city/fan
even
$1.7M / 20k fans = ~$85/fan

I'd be lucky to get in and out of an away game for a weekend only spending that little money.
Not only that, $1.7M/game x 4 home games = $6.8M… meaning the city's definitely going to make some coin on these games.

From what I've read it seems like that is what we will have to do…park…bring our stuff to Lee St and then bring it back it would be awesome if I am wrong though

To say the least. Apparently there are only like 10k actual parking spots on the campus altogether. So if 30k people do show up, even if they only bring half that many cars… people are going to need to walk quite a ways. There will likely be parking along Spanish River and across Glades, then we'll use our shuttles to bring them in. I can't see any other way. That's going to be an incredible sight, watching people decked out in red and blue stream into campus from all over.

I'd be really interested to see Boca's traffic plan for gamedays.

I know I'm not even going to use Glades for that first game…I'll take my chances taking Spanish river into the school…does the school really only have 10k parking spots? is that including faculty and meter spots as well? and does that take into consideration the two additional garages being built?

I think and hope we will have at least 5 home games from next year on

Nope, especially since there's no firm date for when those will be built. "Sometime in the next year or so" doesn't help. Besides, at most that will house 2000 cars but remember, a number of them could go to the students who live in the Phase II Innovation Village apartments anyway. For instance I was reading that the Phase I of IV Apts will only have something like 850 parking spaces for the 1200 residents that live there… so… those students have to park somewhere…
