Money Problems for the stadium?

The Team REALLY needs to put together another winning season, followed by a bowl victory. That will give them the momentum and people will DEMAND that this gets done.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Unfortunately, we don't have time to put together another winning season and a bowl victory.  We need the ball rolling now.

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

It's not like we have a choice… Lockhart is going away soon. A smaller stadium (e.g. 18000 seats like FIU) will probably be considered if this one does not go through. Maybe even the temp stadium concept will be revived if we need an extra season to raise funds. Regardless, we WILL be on campus by 2010.

P.S. The stadium going up at Boca High right now seems to be mocking us :-P.

Sure we do…get the pink slips out, clean house, and bring in some folks who know how to fundraise:

Problem solved.

$2M…that's it?

Wow…….

If this was private business, c-ya a LONG TIME AGO.

If HS doesnt save this, its no looking good…i hate to say it, but it appears to be ALL on his shoulders at this point…

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

Our money-wasting, financially-crying school district is spending more than $500,000 on that stadium at Boca High when it could have thrown in with FAU (as the Troy school system did at Troy U.) and shared the new FAU stadium. Each school (and others nearby) could have had full use of the on-campus facility and it could (still) host regional and state soccer, football, lacrosse and other tourneys.

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

Is it just the economy, or are there other things holding us back?  I'm wondering if the difficulty raising money isn't a result of the Davenport thing, which came not far off the heels of the Corvette thing.  Does anyone think sponsors might be leery about giving money to FAU right now?

Re: Money Problems for the stadium?

From Angelos in regards to the comparison between FAU and FIU and our options:

"Please keep in mind that they have an existing football stadium that they are renovating up to 18,000 seats in the first phase. This is going to cost them somewhere in the $30 million range. They have financed that through a variety of existing dollars, a new student fee amount and some other options. Their pro-forma is much different than ours. However, if we are not able to build the stadium that we would like to at this time, it is possible that we could start with a smaller one such as the FIU and continue to build on over time…"

Are we not already starting with a "smaller one" and planning on building over time?? I thought the plan was 30,000-35,000 seats with room for expansion to 50,000 plus. Say we start with 20,000 season as opposed to 30,000. Is that really going to bring the price down that much??

GO OWLS!!!
