The BOT is an embarassment for FAU and Brogan needs to clean house.

Excuse me but didn't FAU come to Coach S. and ask him to start a program ? Damn it - let him do his job !! Is the BOT going to fire him when he can't recruit players because UCF and USF are taking them because their school SUPPPORTS football ?!?!??!?!??!

If we have no ground breaking by 2007, FAU will reap the repercussions of accepting the BOT's selfish antics - loss of students, student athletes, coaches, boosters, $$$$ and reputation —– to OTHER FLORIDA schools !

Brogan and Schnellenberger have each personally told me the stadium will be built - perhaps by 2009 opr sooner. I choose to hope they are correct.

I don't know why everyone is crying about not getting a dome. As far as I am concerned, a dome was never a feasible option. I really thought it was a ridiculous pie in the sky idea from the beginning. It never made financial sense. $180 million for a dome or $100 million for a new open-air stadium and a new arena. Which makes more sense??? We should all be happy that the open-air stadium issue appears to be making progress despite mixed messages.

Owlfan1, I don't think everyone is crying because we didn't get the Dome I believe it is more why if it wasn't feasible why didn't someone take action for the stadium that they have tentatively agreed on in the first place. I really don't think you would get to much argument from anyone on this board about the financing of a project like the dome.

FAUFBL absolutely Ditto on your post and to add it is hard to fathom that it takes nine years to decide what kind of stadium to build. Everyone wants a stadium period and the dome would have been very nice but most people didn't really give a crap they just wanted a stadium. Hell I would love to own a Rolls Royce but I have to settle for my Crown Vic. It does the same thing just not as flashy or comfortable but still gets the job done.
They could easily get this thing up by 08 and that is what is leading me to believe that it is a yet another stall when they mention 2010. UCF worked on the feasibility study, and after the concept was accepted, six months later the thing is coming out of the ground. They had a commitment to the City of Orlando and that is why it took a little linger for them to pull the trigger on the project. So technically you could add a year to the six months but we are not in that situation. The stadium will be done by 07.

We have Bone headed, backward thinking people stinking up the whole project. This stadium thing isn't that big a deal and is smaller then UCF's project. UCF's stadium can be expanded to 80K but they needed to get it in the ground in order to attract recruits and make a major step into the big time. Why on earth are we looking four more years down the road till a proposed completion. Ridiculous. They could start at 15 or 20 K seats and add since it is open air which is the way 99% of the programs have started with. I said this two years ago build it and as the program grows add to it. That isn't rocket science

Very good points above by all…here's a question regarding the "removal" of BOT members:

How feasible is it?

The reason i say this is that the Govenor/Lt Govenor appoints them…and ironically Brogan was LT Govenor of FL when some of them received appointments - however, i highly doubt he new then that he would be President of FAU down the line at that point in time…with the new Govenor coming in (whom i dont believe Brogan has direct ties with) how feasible is it to have any of them replaced? And on what basis could thery be replaced?

I will look into more of the politics, background, and history on all of them and post later with some details and facts…very curious to gain an assesment on the real value of their leverage, if in fact some of them can be relieved of duty by simply following correct political processes…

Sorry - but it's a trust thing.

I have a problem that we are telling recruits that they will be playing in a dome by 2009. Now we have to back peddle. We have already lost recruits due to the fact we do not have a on campus stadium and a lack of athletic support. The BOT has ruined our credibility.

Disappointed all year to find out the "Dome" was not an approved project. If no Dome was going to be built then why did they University allow the athletic department to advertise it on the "Official" FAU website and tell recruits about it ?? This whole thing stinks to me.

Currently we still have no "official" decision other than we will get a stadium, SOMETIME. It is very apparent to me that the BOT has to approve the stadium but they are going to make everyone's life miserable until they are forced to make it happen. Grow up and get over it - if you can't GET OUT !!!

I am looking forward to whatever you find out Florida_Owl.

FAUFBL I'm with you 100% on your post. Your are right they could have said we would like you to refrain from advertising a dome or a stadium because we the members of the BOT have are heads up our ass and can't make a decision. Of course they will say that they knew nothing about Schnelly 's promoting a stadium. What an embarrassment for this University to even be talking about using Boca High's field or to wait to see if they tear down Lockhart next year or the year after. Good move lets wait till your butt is up against the wall and then we'll figure something out. These are educated people? Who do they work for because I would hate to work or invest in the company they are affiliated with.
Like FAUFBL said either do something or get the hell out of the way

Talon the problem is very simple...The majority of the B.O.T. are a bunch of followers in a leadership position... They are scared to make a big decision.

There is no way "The" stadium can be finished for the 2009 season. We may have "A" stadium by then. Let's not forget the scope of the project. The dorms and retail space will be built first. There has to be a revenue stream created in order to build the stadium. They will spend 6 months (as stated) to develop the plan for the Innovation Villiage. That puts us in mid 2007 before they start building the dorms and retail space. It will take at least 18 months to build and get the revenue flowing. That may be a generous estimate. That means they do not even break ground on the stadium until the beginning of 2009. That would give them 18 months to complete the stadium by the start of the 2010 season. If there are any construction delays due to hurricanes, etc., that is an aggressive timeline. I believe they will come up with a "temporary" stadium for 2009 or before and hope there are no delays for the 2010 season opener.

They can come up with a temp stadium for next year if they got off their asses. I forgot about the village so I'll go back to my post of over a year ago 2015 the "regular" stadium will be ready. Take the Track or the Soccer field and build some damn bleachers, restrooms and a hot dog stand. This is getting more ridiculous every passing minute. >:(
