I was looking at an aerial of the campus and I think that patch of grass between the old runway and pbcc would be good for game day parking on grass
Burrowing owls and gopher tortoises live there, so they can't put anything on that area.

do any actually live there? is it possible to work around them like at the campus in davie? or is it part of that land we're not supposed to touch? (which i thought all of innovation village was on that land)

Re: Parking
I still think innovation village should have an area with a burrowing owl nest/exhibit. All you have to do is leave an open area with a hole in it and maybe a little fence around it. Post an FAU cop there during gameday so that opposing fans dont throw stuff in there and there you go. Especially for an evening game they would be out chilling right before the game during tailgate time (they were always out in Davie around 6:30 PM.
Parking should primary be handled by Parking Garages away from the stadium IMO so that there can be open land around it that is where the carnival atmosphere takes place and people walk there and chill. I also think its essential to allow beer in the stadium and if they have to lease the land to the sponsor just so it is officially not on FAU's campus so be it. Imagine, the pouring rights money would be fantastic, plus it would give a huge incentive for locals to come enjoy a game over driving to dolphin stadium. FAU has had booze from the beginning, keep it that way!

I think the cost was $10,000 per burrow to remove them. I don't think FAU is going to want to spend more money than it has to in order to get this stadium. Moving owls at 10k a pop just so people can have some extra parking is probably not in the cards.
I've heard rumors that the long patch we're referring to is eventually going to be home to the Greek Row, however, and I know how you guys feel about that but I also know they have a committee right now looking at the Greek Villages at similar universities. One model that looks like it might work for FAU is at Western Carolina University. A description from their press release about it:
The complex will feature 16- and 20-bed units for larger student organizations, with smaller groups to be part of a multi-organizational building consisting of three- and four-bedroom apartments. Each house will have a parlor, residential kitchen, public bathroom, lockable storage space and state-of-the-art technology. A centrally located commons building will provide meeting rooms, reception space and laundry facilities for all residents of the village. The commons building also will house an apartment and office for the village director

Any idea how they prevent the birds from building their nest in the middle of the football field? I thought that happened at the high school near FAU and they couldn't use their field for months. That would be a disaster at FAU.

That did happen at Boca High School. It also happened at the old intramural field on the FAU campus and also on the Timuqua lawn. The good news is that the on-campus football field is apparantly going to have field turf, much like the new track and intramural field has now, thus the owls couldn't dig that up and burrow into it.
And I agree that moving the Owls will be a bit expensive. Maybe the construction will scare them and move them for free?
