PBP stadium update

Would have been alot easier should we have won at Texas, but could still happen if we somehow go 3-0 with remaining September games.  That is the Hope here.

The stadium is infrastructure. It should be way more solid than to depend on the outcome of individual games.

True, but a big win on a national stage be it Texas or Michigan State, would help to legitimize the FAU program and hopefully boost the fan base which in turn would make the stadium that much more of a priority.

When does that "have" to happen by?

Answer: First week of October to remain within a window that would allow 2010 completion.

Fair enough, but how tight of a timeline is that?  Is there any wiggle room in case things don't move along as smoothly as we would like?  Permits, weather, whatever… I don't know much about construction, but I know there are things that can delay projects.  Fine, Brighthouse was built in 11 months, 13 months, whatever it was.  October means 22 months, and that's pushing it to August 2010, which doesn't appear to give us a lot of time to drop the shovel.

This talk herein, pardon my blountness, is absurd…so for the sake of morale and a rumor mill of negativity festering furhter, will say a couple of things that by now ought to be appearant by now, and then retreat, as i did last time:

What is the goal at this point in time regarding the project as a WHOLE?

Answer: Development rights to remain in house in entirety.

When does that "have" to happen by?

Answer: First week of October to remain within a window that would allow 2010 completion.

What is FAU doing right now, considering that developers have come out of the woodwork, and already met with University officials to present thier plans; to accept a proposal that would allow them to underwrite the first phase of construction - cash in hand for FAU basically just having to chose one if needed?

Answer:  Paying architects to render drawings (one of the first things you do) and WAITING until the deadline, Hoping for a last minute party of interest to emerge, that will allow them to retain the development rights.

Would have been alot easier should we have won at Texas, but could still happen if we somehow go 3-0 with remaining September games.  That is the Hope here.

Ok, im done…if you want to argue do it with the wall. ;)

Ok, so we have until October. I think the problem is that deadline after deadline has been pushed back. So there really is no reason to believe that October won't become December, which will become May 2009, and then August 2009. You see where I am going with this. As LM so nicely pointed out we have been seeing new deadlines since 2001/2002. Everytime a new deadline rolls around a new excuse is made.

Again, as frustrated as I am as a fan, I really feel for the kids who have committed to the FAU program with the promise of an on-campus stadium. Far too many have already given 4-5 years to the program without ever playing on campus and many more are likely to finish their college football careers without every playing a real "home" game. That to me is a real disappointment.

We have been legitimate for years.

* Beat Hawaii in Hawaii
* I-AA semi-finals
* Beat Minnesota
* Conference co-champions
* Only team to win a bowl game in FL

It's absurd to even thing of starting a football team without a place to play, but there are no words to describe not even knowing if a stadium will be built at all a decade later. There are no more excuses.

1.  And no one pain any attention but our fans, and the drunk Hawaiins.

2.  And received one "consolation article" courtesy of the local media the day after game day.

3.  Who lost 10 games last year.

4.  Of The "Sun Belt"; regarded as second worst, if not the worst, 1A Football Conference.

5.  See number 4 again.

Look, while we on the inside here at the Nest think we are all that and a bag of chips, respectfully, our highest moment is your first point.  And that aint gonna cut it in the eyes of someone you are asking to drop $10 - $20 Million dollars in our fledgling program as a "for profit" business - one that wants immediate and measured return.

Especially when we go to ranked, or even regarded, OOC opponents and get WAXED by 35+ points over and over.

You have to win your way to that regard in peoples eyes…

We have not arrived yet.  But if we beat MSU, it would be a start!

Where's Walty12 for some reality here?? Lol…….

Thanks Florida_Owl.

LM,
My comment about being a legitimate program refers to the national scene, not the FAU message board or the SBC. On the national scale FAU is still virtually unknown. As FO stated, we are going to be hard pressed to get a multi-million dollar investment until we break out on the national scene. A difficult dose of reality to swallow, but the truth.

We aren't beating michigan state…

The fact remains we do not know anything which is NOT GOOD.

Florida_owl, you may have a point that we haven't "arrived yet",  which I agree with.  But, FIU is further less arrived than we are and they are getting a new stadium.  UConn got a football stadium before they even had a football program.

WHY NOT US???

No one has heard a peep about the football stadium.  It's all gossip and rumors.

If there was big news, there would be chatter.  But, there is ZERO of it.

No talk = no plan.

I was apart of something similar in my previous job.  We were looking at opening a new building and the funds never came, so we delayed an announcement so higher ups could consult a PR firm on how to handle this without taking a whiplash in the community.

Our football team will not survive without a home and we needed one last year.  We go to "critical condition" when this so-called October 1 passes and we have no announcement.  I really hope I am wrong and we do hear something positive by October 1… but what does history say?

There's the reality.  >:(

No, FIU is upgrading a HS stadium that was GIVEN to them for absolutely NOTHING.

Can't go there…….
