Re: Possible Lead in Stadium Funding...
In terms of seeing it in '09…. let's just say that Boca's definitely trying to make it difficult for us to build it in 2010, let alone 2009. They're claiming a proposal has to be made that will be approved by FAU and the City Council to be added to the Master Plan Amendment… they don't want "stadium-related expenditures" like hiring an architect to design the stadium before all of that is done, which could take as long as they want to drag it out… plus they've also been saying we need the I-95 intersection before the stadium, which won't be ready until at least 2012+, so Boca has plenty of reason to drag it out…

True…So let's just assume that the I-95 intersection will NEVER happen. With the economic issues what they are at all levels, I doubt if funding for a new I-95 interchange will happen anytime before the next 5 years, if ever. That's what we have to hit Boca with…The interchange will never happen, and the stadium is going up…What other ways can we solve this problem?
Look, all I'm saying is that Boca City is focusing exclusively on the interchange (the easy solution for them), while possibly ignoring other solutions. Truth is that getting into campus on most days of Glades is a PITA, why have they not focused on solving that to begin with. For example, could a "service road" be made parallel to Glades, that lead exclusively into FAU, off I-95? Cheaper and faster to build, than a new exit.
Perhaps this has been looked into, but come on, there must be other possibilities. All parties must come together and think here. Heck, FAU even offers an Urban Planning degree, this sure seems like an urban planning issue…let's step up here people!
OK, rant over…let's get back on the topic of Funding: Why a bonfire? Could a be a clue to the possible donor?

Hmmmm…These threads seem to be a dime a dozen always getting hopes up! But seriously, i hope this is true and you guys can get moving on it. I would love to see the thing built for 09 but i have a feeling the chances of that are between slim and none. Keeping my fingers crossed big time! I hope HS can seal the deal.
cant, nor will speak for the validity of what others say on this forum…but:
just for the record, and anyone on this board and who knows me personally can vouge for this, i dont say ANYTHING unless it has credibility…
what i said above is accurate…and i stand by that…Howard said it, and i have first hand knowldege of it.
Now, whether it happens in the next two weeks is another story, but he said "before 2010" - period.

I don't see the point in keeping this information from other people when we're all on an anonymous messageboard… and it's not exactly Top Secret Government Information either… but whatever.

Actually Ive met a few of the people in FAU administration, and thye know my handle here (If they remember it) so thats why I'm being a lil cautious as they even have my Business card. Just being cautious, as I like my source a lot and should he get busted on this, any inside I have will be gone.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

With all due respect bro, i have to agree with country…who cares what they know, etc?!…if you tell the truth you tell the truth…
Oh my God, someone said the stadium might get built early - how horrific!
*gasp*
How dare they! And its those pesky guys at the Owls nest…
Whatever…lol
How would it jeopordize anything? If anything, they ought to have it on a banner on I95 to spread the word and get some momentum going once and for all…
I mean i can understand legalitites of contracts and keeping things on the DL for competitiors, but the last time i checked, we dont have a line of folks wanting to do this! in fact, minus yours and my mention, we have NO BODY.

If you're not supposed to say anything or it's sensitive material, then why even make any mention of it?
Thank you…….
