Could sprint be the stadium sponsor? Now headquartered in Kansas City. Also goes with the Ring of fire logo.
Just for fun I looked up companies that have headquarters in Kansas city, maybe one of these is the one:
AMC Theaters
Applebees
Commerce Bank
Garmin
Hallmark
HOK Sport + venture + event (maybe they were just meeting with a sports architecture firm)
H&R Block
Russell Stover
Sprint

Interesting list you've composed though. I really couldn't see Russel Stover or AMC Theares but then again who knows

A football player who play for Fay told me that the coaches had a meeting with a Canadian company today for the naming rights of the stadium. He also said if they agree with a deal that the stadium would be built in 2009.
Personally I hope HOK is the one. What a totally awesome "showplace" Innovation Village could become ! Perhaps they could throw in a new baseball stadium for cheap ;D In any case, whoever wants to bring our stadium to fruition is good enough for me !

I like your thinking, unfortunately that is too creative for FAU to come up with. ;D

Interesting ….. the new Commerce Bank was bought by a Canadian company -TD Bank. On an earlier blog, it was reported we were talking to a Canadian company about naming rights:lesean26 said

Seems like if it is HOK they have to make it pretty sick, otherwise why put your name on a boring stadium.
My bet though is Sprint…Its a good name for a football stadium too.
Howard Schnellenberger Field at Sprint Stadium…it has a classy ring to it

I'd put my bet on TD Bank but of course I have no inside information. But I have to agree the sprint stadium does sound pretty cool.

It would really shock me if this was going to be announced during the bonfire, for starters… FAU is being very tight lipped about this huge news and it would be surprising if they had news this huge and there wasn't any information being leaked out.

Why else would they have the bonfire and a practice on such short notice? Usually they plan these things in advance, and there are some important people coming so that's the speculation at least. It's gotta be something major.
Even if it was for a donation of a lot of money like $50 Mill, I don't think they'd hold a bonfire. They'd make a statement that so and so pledged x amount of money

IF it were $50M, the stadium would be virtually paid for…and would be done in one year TOPS.
You suddenly can become the biggest *jerk* known to man with demands, etc when you have the cash to boot…….
But i highly doubt that is the case…
20M would be very nice at this point though, and would seal the deal for 2009.
