I think the FAU goal is 5000 and that goal was made before $4 gas. So who knows.

It would be awesome if the high price of gas inspired FAU to build more dorms than originally specified.

Once they get 5000+ kids on-campus, this place will be rockin'.

I know us Urban Planning students are pushing to get a student housing mixed use place in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale… Get a nice cofeeshop downstairs along with the idea that alot of the students dont have to commute anymore and we would have a nice urban campus right there downtown, across the street from the Sun Sentinel and major corporate offices.

I also hope we can buy out Palm Beach Atlantic and get an urban university setting up there too…that location is ideal.

Would that be on the vacant parcel on the west side of the FAU bldg? If so, do you guys have any type of architecturals we can see? I think that would be great for not only FAU but for the city as well.

and speaking of vacant parcels… did you guys read about this proposal by the owner of Muvico and Avitat to build an iPic entertainment center on Airport Road?

It's this without the movie theater section (since Muvico is next door). Especially check out the bowling alley

The other bid was made by a furniture company but I highly doubt they'll be able to overcome the owner of Muvico, especially since his bid would pay the airport people (who own the land) more, he had a pre-existing relationship with them already and… well, a furniture store wouldn't make sense in the same area as Muvico and Boomer's whereas an upscale bowling alley/bar/restaurant would.

No I think that is detention basin…most of the ideas floated were looking at the drive-thru bank and parking lot to the north of Askew tower and the faculty parking lot north of HEC.  Don't have any pictures or anything since my projects weren't in that area.

No, in construction they are not called artists they are called architects or designers (a.k.a. designs). Very similar to lenders in construction being called bankers as opposed to loan sharks out side of construction.

No, in construction they are not called artists they are called architects or designers (a.k.a. designs). Very similar to lenders in construction being called bankers as opposed to loan sharks out side of construction.
