Great pics. It looks like it is going to be a nice facility. When you look at it it is easy to see where most of the money is going. The press side with luxury boxes is impressive.

For FAU it would make sense to cut costs buy backing down on the number of suites and box seats since that is the big expenditure especially since many new stadiums are done with steel construction with limited concrete. It appears that is what Akron is doing. Same goes for what UCF did with their stadium.

GO OWLS!!!

Suites and club seats are a big revenue source, it doesn't make sense to cut back on those. At this point though, I'd settle Lockhart being lifted up and placed on campus.

They don't bring in money if they are empty. Right now it doesn't seem like people are lining up to throw money at luxury suites. What about the idea of limiting the number and increasing the price. Basic supply/demand stuff.

I think at this point all we want is a stadium on campus even if it means cutting back on the bells and whistles.

They'll raise student fees.  Not good news but news nonetheless…. ::)

You're stadium appears to be coming along nicely.  Congrats!  Wish we had the same luck with marketing.  However, I read that your school invoked eminent domain on surrounding property owners.  That's a shame.

How the hell do you evoke eminent domain to construct a stadium, this country is going to hell in a handbasket.

Re: Similar Stadium Concepts

Well, evoking eminent domain and winning are two differnet things.  The area where the stadium is built was complete slum…student apartments in what should have been condemend buildings.  The university started approaching landlords and buying up the houses.  They offered above market value and the landowners agreed pretty quickly.  They bought up about 30 properties this way.  There were two holdouts who figured out what the U was doing and kept asking for more and more.  A "dead head" shop that sold "tobacco" pipes and the like and a run down bar.  The properties had value of about 200k and the owners kept holding out for multi-millions.  As the impasse, the U evoked eminent domain.  The final ruling was that both parties won and lost.  The landowners were required to sell but the university had to pay almost the full amount the owners asked…something like 3 mil for one and 4 for the other.

Thanks for the explanation.  Some of the stories we have all read recently on eminent domain really destroy the basis of the free enterprise system but in all things there are exceptions and without hearing the other side this situation this appears to have been one of them.  I am glad it worked out for you guys, the stadium looks great.
