Like has been pointed out, the stadium is the missing piece of the puzzle. At this point 2010 seems to be impossible. Lets hope that something gets done for 2011.

GO OWLS!!!

Sure seems like that 1 year would set us back 5.  We need that stadium in 2010 as promised to players by coaches.

I agree. We need a stadium and fast. However, the way things have been going it doesn't look like it will be done by kickoff 2010.

It is hard to be an optimist at this point.

I read what everybody writes, but just wondering…why exactly do you feel that way?  I feel like I dont know what is going on with the process.

A good quote i came across today, that seems very fitting:

"Our greatest battles are that with our own minds."

- Jameson Frank

Add this to the already infamous:

"To believe is to be strong"

- HS

So, and as such, we must march on…….

I have been following the program since day one and this thing (the stadium) has been talked about since day one. Full recruiting classes have come and gone with the promise of a stadium being unfullfilled. All of the problems with the BOT, postponed meetings, unfulfilled promises, etc. make it hard to be optimistic right now. That said, we are all pretty much in the dark. Based on my experience with this so far, being in the dark is not a good thing. Those are just my feelings.

I hope I am wrong and that meetings are taking place and funding is being secured and 2010 is a sure thing.

Yeah, this is frusturating.  Not that I have ever even raised $1 in my life…but the amount of money we need in hand seems like it should be peanuts for a large University.

Re: Stadium Funding

Nobody knows what is going on with the process. That is the whole problem. Poor communication by FAU on where we stand and what we need. Whatever happened to the themometer thing with the goal at the top. At least there would be no confusion then. What I don't understand is how FAU can expect to raise money when they cannot communicate with the very people they are trying to get money from!

Re: Stadium Funding

Or an online fundraising thing like how Obama raised millions with small donations.  If just the registered members of Owls Nest gave 10 bucks a piece thats 8 grand.  If we gave that 10 bucks every month wed have almost a million dollars.  It adds up with large groups and we all know that the alumni base of FAU is larger than just the owls nest.  Set up a campaign online where people are encouraged to give between 1 and 10 dollars each month for the next year and send all the alumni a thing in the mail telling them how important they are.  Then give them a gift card or some coupons to a restaurant or whatever if they give.  Also tell them its tax deductible.  Do whatever it takes.

Maybe we at the Owls Nest should lead the way?  Each of us pledge 10 dollars a month.  I'm gonna "ask the AD" if we can get a website setup.

Yeah, but some of those are UCF fans, the Texas guy, the Troy guy, Tebow the Great, that clown Bossman from Memphis. ;D

But seriously folks, are there any stats on how many faculty/staff or alumni have donated to the stadium?  It's not necessarily a question of "how much?" but rather "how many?"  Doesn't hurt to show potential donors that X% of your stakeholders are behind it, too.

Yeh I know but I was just giving an example of how less than 1000 people can raise a million dollars pretty easily.

Re: Stadium Funding

They need to start thinking outside the box. One example would be to have a raffle. The raffle would include 4 skybox passes for 1 game. All you can eat and drink. If they charged $100.00 per raffle ticket and got at least $1,500 people to play, they would make $150,000.00. If they promoted this the right way, it would be a snap to achieve….
