Talk of Blue field???

No offense to Florida_Owl who I think submitted the picture of the Blue field on Ted Hutton's blog, but can we please stop talking about a Blue field or a Red field? We're not Boise State we don't need a Blue field. Someone said "We need something to separate us from everyone else" If you're football team can't do that and you have to rely on the color of your grass/turf to do that well then that's a problem.

We haven't even broken ground on the stadium yet and we're talking about making the field blue and goal posts red. I don't know about the rest of you but I will be so happy to have a stadium on campus I really could care less what color the field is. Boise State has the "Smurf Turf" and it looks really cool but why do we need to have that down here? We're not Boise State, we're FAU and the thing that will separate us from other school is the success of our growing program not the color of our field.

Again this wasn't intended to offend anyone I just think a talk of a blue field is premature and silly, especially since there hasn't even been 1 shovel put in the ground yet or a sponsor for the stadium.

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Talk of Blue field???

no offense taken!

ideas are just that - ideas…

but i am sticking by this one…and think it will get a look form HS - who is SOLD on Blue…and has had a hard time getting the fans and even his own Marketing department to support the primary color of the athletics programs…

in fact, beside football jerseys, nto alot of cohesivness out there…

just my "opinion" though!

Please post the pic here so every9one sees what you are talking about…it was done by FauOwl2009! Nice job too!  Even though he doesnt like the idea either - lol!

It's not that I hate it it's just that we haven't even begun ground breaking yet, we don't have a sponsor or a definitive date yet of when the stadium will open. Will it be '09? Will it be '10 like planned?

Here is a pic of the Blue Field as posted in Ted Huttons Blog on Sun Sentinel:

Re: Talk of Blue field???

It looks good, I think the fact that it is darker than Boise State blue makes it look better IMO.

It would set us apart, and that would help make our football team better too.  BUT put the Sun Belt on there, why are we so embarrassed of the Sun Belt anyway?

I swear its like we are dating a fat girl, we love her when we're inside but the rest of the time we just can't wait to upgrade.

SHOW SUNBELT LOVE

Lets beat up on UAB next year and hope that the rest of the conference out performs CUSA, the Big East is content with their profit sharing small conference the way it is for the moment, I think the only thing that might make them upgrade is if MWC gets its act together and makes a run for that BCS bid that the Big East is clinging to, until then love the one you're with.

Vision…planning…brainstorming…forethought…….

The opposite:

Be led by what others may think.

Not trying to beat you up Fledge…i hear your concern loud and clear…

BUT, should we give rat's derrier what UCF fans think?

They cant even design water fountains into their own stadium…

not one iota :)

How would having a Blue field make our football team better? Having a stadium on campus and winning will make our football team better, not the color of your field. Boise State isn't good because there field is Blue

Re: Talk of Blue field???

I am not a fan of having a blue field, but I hope they do some things that make the stadium unique.  I hope it is not a boring stadium…but I will take any stadium at all at this point.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Yep. The Big East logo shouldn't be on there.

That being said, I don't think there's any problem with throwing ideas like the blue field out there. Some of them will stick.

Blue field may in fact be too 'Boise State' and we don't need anyone else saying we're looking at their notes. I don't think there's anything wrong with red field goal posts though. Why not? Years and years later, it would be awesome to have a field goal post that could change colors… so it's yellow normally but if the ball goes through it turns green… it not, it could turn red.

Re: Talk of Blue field???

Vision, foresight and whatever you said should be focused on improving on a 7-5 season, not what color our field should be in 3 years.  Or how we can raise money to build a stadium.

You know, all those important things besides what color our field should be when in the end we all know its going to be green.
