These are all long-term deals. Movie Gallery pays Troy $250,000 per year for 20 years (which now seems like a bargain).
In 20 years $250,000 will be a drop in the bucket. On an annual basis that money can't have much of an impact at all.

Is the Soccer field next to the Ox an option. It just seems it would be more feasible to erect additional seating and add to what exists currently. Just a thought
soccer fields are laid with a pitch…they don't suffice for football…
Lockhart has had pretty heavy use a a soccer stadium. If by pitch you mean "slope," soccer fields usually have no slope. The grass is different—typically thinner bladed—but Lockhart's got the grass it's got.
Which brings me to my point: When the new stadium is built, they should definitely engineer it with wider sidelines. I've gone to many, many soccer games a Lockhart. Lots of international teams love to come and train here during the Winter break. I've seen Glasgow Rangers, Nottingham Forest, Jamaica NT, Romania NT, USA NT and U-20's, Haiti NT, and on and on. Sometimes they'll get 19+ for a game. That's more than our beloved Owls presently pull. If Lockhart—bless it for what it is—is demolished, where will they play? Orange Bowl? No, gone. (There were about 35K at the USA/Argentina friendly a few years ago at OB. Perhaps we host CONCACAF and GOLD CUP games.) Dolphin? Not a chance.
That's revenue right there waiting to be snapped up. 25 bucks a ticket and packed houses.
The extra room won't hurt the sightlines. That all depends on the construction of the seating. I hope the powers that be take this into consideration.

I like the point that you make. It would make sense to make the new stadium, temporary or otherwise, suitable for soccer as well. I know that some people will get up in arms at this suggestion, but if it can help to finance the stadium and if it won't result in a complete alteration of stadium plans it makes sense. Another question is whether or not the new surface will be natural or artificial. I don't know how that would impact the facility as multi-use.

Lockhart was not built for soccer…it was built by the county for FOOTBALL…
FAU's socce fields were laid with pitch…stop by and check them out some time…
and i dont know where you got the notion that isnt the traditional method??

not to my understanding…it was "built in 1959 as an athletic facility for local Highschools"…the first game played there was a Football game…
in 1959, not sure how many Fort Lauderdale area Highschools had a soccer prgram that had any interest…let alone could fill that place up…
her's a neat site that has all stadiums across the country:

And, yes, Lockhart was built in mind for football.

Re: temp on campus stadium
So if the new stadium's field is multiuse, soccer would present no issue dimension-wise, save for wider sidelines.
NB: Lockhart was football first. I never said otherwise. In the 70's and 80's Pele played there! Cryuff! Beckenbauer! And there've been other pro teams there. That's "heavy use."
As I said, they should plan well to maximize usage for an on-campus stadium. What good's a stadium that's empty half the year?
(Geez, you mention sharing a field with some soccer players and the s**t hits the fan. Share and share alike!)

I agree absolutely that the soccer fields at FAU have a pitch, a severe pitch. No decent soccer field should have one so severe. It's like playing on a hill.
lol…i thought so too…
