I just realized that NSU (Nova Southeastern University) is getting a football team in 2012. NSU is the largest private school in Florida with 33K students and over 110K alumni.
I don't know why I feel that NSU will build a stadium before FAU gets one.
Is this true? NSU?
Yes, it's true…

If NSU stays in DII for football (IF this is true), they would be the only one in the state. I believe Valdosta State is DII also. That might work out since they won't be competing with the D1A teams in Florida for talent. There should be an abundance of DII level talent in the state since they would have to go to a university out of state. DII allows up to 36 scholarships.

I remember distinctively hearing about them adding football (at least getting the "approval" by their BOT) about six months ago. There should be a forum thread along these lines?
Surprisingly, nothing is pulling up on major search engines now…maybe they dropped the idea?

I read it on line @ wikepedia. It says they will be adding football to their collegiate sports in 2012. I know it's just a rumor, but NSU has a potential for a football team. NSU has good reputation, large student body, large alumni and some other things in my opinion. Remember that the Dolphins train over there and Huizenga supports the business school at NSU.
My point was that FAU is moving so slow with their stadium that I would not be surprised if NSU gets one on campus before FAU does.
I hope, I'm wrong.

I don't know how much potential they have to be a major college team or a big player in the area. I'm not sure how well it would work out being the only D2 team in the state. That would increase travel costs significantly, I would think. Also, the "large" student body is not that large on campus. I don't have numbers, but I'm pretty sure that more than half, maybe as high as two-thirds of their students are grad students. They have a lot of pure online students, too, and something like 10 "campuses" in Florida. I think they have only about 3,000 students at the main campus. And grad students aren't alumni in the same way as they are for their undergrad – not the same emotional tie to the school.
