I went down to FIU for this game. Shaneese played a great game. And for those who do not know…FAU's Shaneese Bailey is related to Champ Bailey playing in the Super Bowl!!

The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team exceeded its win total from 2012-13 with its 91-86 victory at Tulsa on Saturday. Senior Kimberly Smith had a career-high 33 points, 10 rebounds, and set a school record with nine 3-pointers.
The Owls (13-9, 3-6 C-USA) set the school record for most 3-pointers made in a season, draining 13 to increase their season total to 186 with at least eight games remaining this year. The previous record, 181, was set in the 2009-10 season. FAU also bumped off the 3-point attempts record with their 575th attempt, eclipsing last year’s record mark of 573. The Owls also set the school record for most 3-point attempts in a contest with 38.
Smith’s nine 3-pointers broke Jessie Castaneda’s record of eight at Georgia State on Feb. 6, 1997. The Minneola, Fla. native now has 66 treys on the season, tying LaTorria Matthews’ record from 1997-98. Her nine 3-pointers on Saturday is the most ever made against Tulsa and also set the Donald W. Reynolds Center record. FAU’s 13 3-pointers is the most ever made in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Smith scored nine of FAU’s first 14 points, giving the Owls a small lead early in the game. The Golden Hurricane (10-10, 4-5 C-USA) went on a 14-3 run midway through the first half to take their largest lead of the game at 11 with five minutes left in the half.
FAU would then go on a 13-0 run over the next 2:05 to take a 39-37 on a Briah Blakely fast break layup. Tulsa hit a jumper with two seconds left to tie the game at 41 at the break.
The Owls went on a 19-6 run that saw five different players score, starting at the 14:50 mark. From there, it was all FAU as Tulsa was unable to pull to within five points for the rest of the game.
Smith had 18 points and seven rebounds in the second half alone. For the game, she also had six steals and five assists with just two turnovers in her 39 minutes. Latavia Dempsey scored all ten of her points in the second half. Blakely scored 14 points on six-of-nine from the field and grabbed four rebounds. Shanequa Schrouder scored 11 points with four rebounds and three assists. Takia Brooks made seven free throws en route to her nine points while also dishing out four assists.
The Owls return home to host Tulane on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. FAU will host Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, Feb. 15 at noon on Fox Sports.
