FAU Names Lou DiFeo Assistant Women's Basketball Coach - Florida Atlantic Owls Official Athletic Site

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University has named Lou DiFeo as its assistant women's basketball coach.

"Lou has been in women's basketball for more than a decade and has tremendous contacts," said Chancellor Dugan, FAU's head women's basketball coach. "His experience will be felt throughout the program. I have known him for years, and I'm excited to have him affiliated with the Owls."

DiFeo has more than a decade of experience in the college ranks, most recently with the University of Tennessee at Martin. While serving as an assistant coach for UT-Martin, the Skyhawks made an Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Final Four appearance in 2006-07. Additionally, UT-Martin had one of the biggest turnarounds in the country when the team improved from 8-19 in 2005-06 to 17-14 the following season.

DiFeo also has served as the women's assistant coach at Birmingham-Southern College from 1999-2002, then as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of South Alabama (USA) for one season, before becoming head coach at the University of Montevallo in 2003-04. While at Birmingham-Southern, the Panthers compiled a 35-20 record. While serving at USA, DiFeo helped the Jaguars post a 19-10 record, win a regular season Sun Belt Conference Championship and make an appearance in the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT).

DiFeo started his coaching career as an assistant men's basketball coach at Oviedo High School in Oviedo, Florida, before moving to Homewood High School in Birmingham, Alabama.

Known as an enthusiastic and energetic coach, DiFeo also recruits well. During the past eight seasons, he recruited nine all-conference players, two "freshman of the year" honorees, one "newcomer of the year" award winner and a "defensive player of the year."

DiFeo earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from the University of Central Florida in 1996. While serving as a student assistant for the UCF men's basketball team, DiFeo was part of two Atlantic Sun Conference Championships and made two NCAA Tournament appearances
