2019 C-USA Football Championship Thread - UAB @ FAU - Dec 7th, 1:30 PM
#FAU wins the coin-toss for the 12th time this year.@Lane_Kiffin elects to defer to the second half. So on comes Aaron Shahriari to boot the opening kickoff through the endzone. #UAB will begin the game from their own 25 yard line.

One of the biggest stories going into the #CUSA Championship was whether or not #UAB would go with Tyler Johnston at QB after sustaining an injury a couple weeks ago.

Looks like that's a no. Dylan Hopkins is starting for the Blazers instead.
What a start for the defense! #FAU forces #UAB into a quick three-and-out.

Owls to start their first drive from their own 20 yard line.

It's flip-flopped from last week. Today, the student section is showing out, while the season ticket holder side is disappointing.
Damian Horton DESTROYS #UAB's Dylan Hopkins for a sack! That's a loss of 8 yards, moving the Blazers back to their 9 yard line!

The visitors are forced to punt after back-to-back three-and-outs.
Dante Cousart calls for a fair catch on #FAU's 49 yard line.
TOUCHDOWN #FAU!!!

The FOURTH time is the charm? @Lane_Kiffin elects to go for it on 4th & goal from the one yard line (after the previous 3 runs up the middle failed to score). And it's BJ Emmons, who gets his 4th score in 3 games!pic.twitter.com/xm4Yjpjyvk
7-0 FAU, 5:25 1Q
The #FAU defense was about to play for it's third straight three-and-out, but #UAB gets bailed out from a WEAK late hit out of bounds penalty.

Looks like we got the best #CUSA refs for today's championship.
*eye roll*
That would've been the best touchdown of the entire weekend if the WR was able to haul it in.
It REALLY looked like #UAB scored a gorgeous touchdown via a 40-yard playaction bomb.
— FAU Owl's Nest (@FAU_Owls_Nest) December 7, 2019
But after further review, the ball hit the ground. The pass is incomplete.
Owls got bailed out there, but still face the challenge of #UAB driving down field.
Considering that the Blazers could've scored on that bomb, I'll take that result.
After seeing their TD wiped off the board, #UAB is forced to go for a 44 yard field goal.

And it's good. WOW, he NAILED that. It could've easily gone for 50.
7-3 #FAU, 1:45 1Q.
