FAU @ FIU - Shula Bowl XVII Game Thread - November 3, 2018

We had the largest Hoot N Holler group we've ever had attend last year's Shula Bowl (80 in all).

A lot of different reasons that I saw on our end - winning, tons of media attention and hype, kids sporting seasons had ended, and timing of the game.

IE, cupcake week for the P5 schools - the week before the rivalry games when they were playing lower tiered teams.

And because of the cupcake week for P5 teams, Game Day was seriously considering coming to Boca

It's no joke that we were this "" close to having it come to Boca Raton the week after they were in Miami.

The year before, during the same week, was when they went to Western Michigan for the PJ Fleck, "row the boat" show.

All joking aside, I really see potential for growth intellectually for OC as he gets older.

Possibly unpopular opinion but I think this season was absolutely the best thing to happen to us. I think Kiffin has struggled with recruiting at FAU because most prospects believed he was going to leave this job soon. This season has basically sealed Kiffin in Boca for a few years at-least.  With our athletic complex nearly complete by next fall and our nationally known head coach, I wouldn't be surprised if we pull an incredibly good recruiting class for 2019.

I bet Kiffin will make some changes on defense in the off-season. We've under-performed with our talent level in so many respects.

That is possible but the O is the problem to me. The Weiss Jr. gamble failed as the D ig getting better  even with HUGE injuries (BOTH NFL prospects!) while the O has regressed badly. 20 points total in two CUSA games, really! And the QB issue opens the door for Kiffin to go after Hurts - he will kill it in CUSA!

I just can't believe we cannot develop one of FOUR Power 5 QB's into even just a game manager - SAD COACHING BY SOMEBODY!

The Morgan kid (FIU QB transfer) from Bowling Green has proven way better and he was NOT good at Bowling Green!

Ok Weiss is not going anywhere. Blaming an young OC on the failures of the O this year is crazy when it's very much shared.

Also as for recruiting we have had the highest per player average on the 247 composite the last two years.

I know most JUCO's have not worked but still Lane has not lacked in getting talented players to want to play here.

I also do not think you guys realize how hard of ceiling conference limits you in recruiting.

UCF is one of the hottest program in the country in a great location, great facilities etc and they finished 70th last year.

I will say the classes 4o-70 are very close and do not offer much talent difference as you are just pretty much sharing middle to high end three star guys, but still UCF is recruiting at the same level as IU and Kansas.

Lane and great facilities are one thing, but when a large group of visitors come to FAU vs ODU 10k in the seats is not getting anyone excited.

I think it's ludicrous to write Robison off. There's so many other issues; an OC in over his head, a new OL coach, subpar replacements to Graduating o lineman. Heck, even I can't definitely say what's wrong. But it sure ain't Robison.
Also, could it be that this season is the best thing to happen to our football program? We "think" Bc of the poor season that Kiffin will be here for years now. Maybe he can give 110% towards recruiting; HS kids please. All it takes is one great season for Robison out of the next 3 and were a top 25 team.

Robison will be the best QB Fau has ever had. Including Rusty. We simply need to put an OL in front of him.
