Best chance to win would seem to be the reason…

All I have seen is an out of shape QB who looks slow with the football, and is terribly inaccurate throwing the football. This is the worst Quez has looked since early in his career with FAU. I think it is time to start building toward next year regardless, and give Driskell as many game reps as possible.

It doesn't matter at this point, let the Seniors play it out.

Reps vs being 3-9…and giving Quez his due as and outgoing senior also plays into it.

While the running game for Driskel and Parr are relatively even, the arm is not and head knowledge is closing rapidly.

Book Parr vs Southern Illinois on September 3rd, 2016.

I also think that Wright doesn't work very well with a pocket passer and I don't think our playbook nor OC can accommodate to a different type of QB.
Let the season be done and hopefully we'll get a new OC soon.

+1

Our team is built for the spread, so it is indeed a stretch…just looking at our two current pro-style qb's (and hopefully 3rd to be) we are likely in for some significant changes in the play book.

I'm sure Partridge and Co are going to trot Quez out there in our first series for Florida because he's the "most dependable" from a game experience standpoint.

But I'd like to see Driskell play half this game, not just a series. I don't care how bad it goes. He needs the reps.

The only reason we should keep Quez in is the unlikely event that we are winning/tied because of him. In that case you ride the momentum until it's gone. You don't keep an underperforming player in for sentimental reasons. You always put your best foot forward and try to win the game.

That's something that bothered me about Partridge's recent interview with a UF podcast group (he's been awesome about outreach and promoting the program). He was talking about the game as good experience and how we want to put on a good show. And it's like, say you're there to win a football game. If you look at this as a lost cause, that it's like an extra practice for players to get reps, how are the players supposed to feel? How are we the fans supposed to feel?

I get that the odds are stacked against us, especially this year. They always are. But that's why they're called upsets. And I'm not just talking about this game. FAU needs to put more emphasis on these games instead of laying down and taking it.

If we are going up there to win Coach P., then got for it every play, take chances and attack them. If we play passive (conservative) we will get crushed as usual!

Don't wait for something to happen - MAKE something happen!

Go Owls!

To add my 2 cents about what the fan base wants in a football program and how much they do not like the noon games in South Florida, and how the quality of the opponent can help…

Our store is doing more business this week with an away game in Gainesville, than it did last week with a home game at noon.

Just sayin' the fan base votes with their dollars and hopefully people start paying attention…there are things that can be done to increase the base until the wins start coming.

I gotta weigh in on UF Coach McClellan and his offhand comment about FAU.

A few years ago, a reporter asked Howard Schnellenberger how FAU could beat a Power 5 team they were set to play. He said FAU players have great heart when they play. It made headlines and people said he was inferring the other team played with less heart.

Coach McClellan beat South Carolina and following the game called out their next opponent, FAU… "FAU is full of Florida players who wish they were Florida gators."

That's a classless comment, period.

For a school as large as University of Florida, there should be no need to rub smaller, newer Universities noses in smug attitudes.

As much as I'd love to see FAU give the gators some fits this Saturday… I'll admit it's highly unlikely.

But when you're head coach of one of the top football universities in the country, you shouldn't feel the need to insult opposing team's players and their institutions.

Truth to it or not, it's a shameless comment and I hope Coach McClellan reaps bad karma from such statements, that FSU destroys UF next game and heck, who knows maybe another Georgia Southern team will knock off the gators and force McClellan to keep his ugly mouth shut.

Georgia Southern vs. Florida - Game Recap - November 23, 2013 - ESPN

Adding to the point … FAU had an entire Touchdown called back last game because our player taunted an opposing team's player. This shows that the NCAA is serious when it comes to rules that universities treat other opponents with some degree of respect and dignity of play.

Shouldn't a coach be held to higher standards too? I'm just saying he's setting an awfully poor example for the team.

I'm sure many will just blow it off as "coach speak" but I feel it sends the wrong message on so many levels.

Not sure if you're refusing to call him by the right name or if you really don't know his name, which, if true, is actually quite hilarious and insulting to Coach McElwain!
You might be the head coach of the Gators but the casual football fan has no idea who you are.

Anyhow, on to the comment. Has anyone heard the entire quote? I feel like we're missing something here, it doesn't make sense for a 9-1 SEC coach to lob grenedes at a team as pathetic as ours. I could totally see the quote being in contex of "taking us seriously" and we're a talented team made of mostly Florida kids that "we" (at UF) may have overlooked so these kids will come in with a chip on their shoulder so we're focused on this game.

I've heard a coach say this exact thing about us. I don't know, maybe he's just a d!ck, but I've never seen him doing anything like that so far.
