No I get it. That was my point about Memphis being a basketball school (more resources). I just think we're getting a lot less than we paid for (I say "we" since I always buy season tickets and then spend 50 bucks on food for son). we keep losing games by 1 point or 3 points, which we should be winning by at least 10 points, if you look at the talent on the roster. I'm just really shocked at how the season has played out. I thought we would be more experienced, and be able to close out games.

Gotcha…

I was only pointing out that "technically" he is performing better than he is "paid" for when you look at wins and the amount received.

Not using that to support performance and deem acceptable per se.

I tied Howard in because that is where we would really like to be…we had a sweet seal at the time for about three seasons.

And, of course, we would all like for that to be the case now as well. because if we were at 4-2 we would be getting just that when looking at the rest of the league - SWEET deal.

I liked Wright a lot too, but geez, the offense has been so stagnant much of the time, which is awful considering we really only lost one major playmaker (Lucky Whitehead).

One thing in CP's favor, the students that work here really like him and feel like he makes a big effort to reach out to the student body and get them involved. For whatever reason, they don't like Chun very much. Supposedly (and this is anecdotal), Chun was trying to keep the students from buying tickets to the UM game so that more people from the community could buy them.  Again, that's just anecdotal from the students.

If CP can build the student base into a good fan base and replace the coordinators with guys who can actually coordinate, I'll be a huge fan of his again (if he stops blocking alumni and season ticket holders).

Yeah totally. And we got a sweet deal because he didn't just coach us to a couple bowl wins, he STARTED THE PROGRAM lol. It doesn't get a whole lot better than that.

And if he went 4-2, he would be getting attention from bigger schools, and probably get hired by Memphis when Justin Fuente gets the South Carolina job.

And really, If we were 2-4 or 3-3, I'd be a lot happier. It's just the last minute losses that drive a fan insane.

For next to nothing!

Not to derail this thread, but just a quick mention then back to topic:

Am kind of surprised that USC doesn't have Elliot in the mix…

Granted he is a similar situation to Partridge in that he is a recruiting guy who is a co-coordinator, but it is on the offensive side of the ball. Plus he has been in that job at USC for what is his 4th season.

They would be well served to keep him around because the Gamecocks have fallen sharply in recruiting over the last two seasons against the rest of the SEC.

I think either Shawn Elliot or Justin Fuentes will get the job. Although if he was recruiting coordinator and SC has dropped in recruiting, that might work against him. I hear also that Kirby Smart could get the job too, which would be good for me, since I'm also a Bama fan, and I'd like to see Kirby Smart get broken in as a HC, then come back to Bama when Saban retires.

Everyone, even Spurrier, has pointed that at the lack of his commitment to the program, and his age..I mean, as much as it hurts to say it, when a coach gets to a certain point, it starts to play its hand - see us for example.

He said they lost some key guys because of a quote that was consistently being used against him. They wouldn't come for just 2 years under him…couple it with hitting 70 and that is fair.

Elliot being the guy would mean a difference in both categories, although the name would be missing as well.

Ooohhhh you mean Spurrier? Yeah, his age was a huge detractor. Especially since he didn't care to recruit as hard as guys like Saban, Mullen, Malzahn, etc. Totally fair point.

Yeah, Elliot was ultimately selling Spurrier…an aged coach who would not say he was sticking around until it became costly not doing so. DAGGER in the SEC.

I just question the quickness of the Memphis guy, but in the end who knows. So many variable to consider.

Now that we have successfully driven into the ditch back to some Owls ball!
