Not to be a Debbie downer…
but look at the numbers put up by Tulsa against #4 Oklahoma:

Stats             OKLA.   TLSA
First Downs.   26   23
Total Plays        69   84
Total Yards.  580   328
Passing      319   234
Rushing     261          94
Penalties    5 / 60   6 / 62
Possession   27:10   32:50
Turnovers     0          4

328 yards of offense against the #4 team in the nation? !

This does not bode well for what so far has been a very porous defense.

Hell, Tulsa offense stayed on the field 5 minutes longer than Oklahoma offense. That's scary.

only good stat from that game was Tulsa made 4 turnovers. That may play in our favor

I know we played strong teams so far but many of our conference mates (save lowly FIU) played good teams to the wire for a few quarters. We crapped the bed.

Hopefully our boys prove me wrong. I really do hope so. But the stats don't look in our favor this year. The talk was high and mighty this offseason and I for one was very excited to see our capabilities. This game will truly tell volumes of what to expect the remainder of the year.

But No pressure FAU. .. No pressure.

Just. .. don't. .. lose

You should cancel the season.  Possibly call an emergency meeting of the Board of Trustees to discuss disbanding the football program.  You guys are the worse fans in the world.  Fair weather, unknowledgeable and have unrealistic expectations.  To think that anything but getting crushed was going to be a possibility against Nebraska and Alabama shows that you guys had unrealistic expectations.  You haven't gone to a bowl game in 6 years and you think you should have a good showing against Alabama!  CRAZY!

I'm sure everyone here knew we were getting crushed. We (well, I) just hoped we had a better performance offensively in those 2 games, i.e. at least 1 td in each game. Those were my expectations, and that doesn't sound unrealistic to me. Last time we got completely shut out was in the 2011 season.
And you're talking about cancelling season? gee, we could've done that last year if we listened to pessimistic people like you, and look how last season turned out?! If calling out all the fans in this forum gives you a purpose in life, well, do you buddy, you're entitled to your own opinion, whether it's right, wrong, of just plain ignorant.

There are a few concerns that I have. With this new defensive scheme, our corners and safties were getting beat pretty bad against Alabama and Nebraska, but I am wondering if this was just due to the size of Bama's and Nebraska's wide receivers…. Yet I see the holding out of Johnson and Smith was a smart play by Partridge. Keep them healthy for the conference schedule coming up…

The University of Tulsa’s first road game arrives Saturday, a seemingly innocuous nonconference matchup with Florida Atlantic. In reality, Week 3 could be a significant fork in the road for the Golden Hurricane, which has had mixed results in its first two outings.

Everyone chill out and relax.. I've been a die hard fau fan since the program started and I was a Freshman in the nasty dorms that were barracks that no longer exist ha. This year is exciting because we have a decent team for the first time since rusty smith. The first two games were ass whooping tradition…last week we were playing Freshman against Alabama. Lets wait to judge until this week.. Just make sure to get to the game and tailgate hard. Go owls

Reason and patience will not be accepted on this board.

I like to think I am reasonable and exercise patience.  I didn't think for a minute that we would win the first 2 games.  What disturbed me was that we supposedly identified issues during the first game, and I didn't see much change in the second.  I want to see improvement every game throughout the year.  I don't even care what the score happens to be…but I want to see that we can compete on some level.

Honestly, I think we looked like an FCS team.  I love this team, this staff, and this school, but I thought the performance was on the embarrassing side, and I make no apologies for saying it.

Owls Up!

Interesting score (possibly only to me) from Saturday - Nebraska 31 McNeese State from the Southland Conference 24!  It took a 58 yard TD catch and run with :20 seconds on the clock for Nebraska to pull out the win.  We must of softened those Huskers up a little.  I know it's apples and oranges, I was just surprised Nebraska struggled against an FCS opponent.  Tulsa is averaging 336 yards per game passing and they played the #4 team in the country.  I'm sure someone can enlighten me about our DB's and their speed but to me we looked a step slow both weeks, fair or not?  Thanks.

i think our DB's have been major disappointments considering they were suppose to be a strength of the team.  A lot of floaters are being caught that I think should have been defensed.

Win or lose, I'm hoping for a great contest as the Owls defend Schnellenberger field.

A lot of Jay Warren early on to open up options down the field would be nice to see. Go Owls!

From ESPN.com

"Tulsa: The Golden Hurricane trailed 31-0 at the half and lost 52-7 to Oklahoma on Saturday, their eighth consecutive defeat against the Sooners. At least they will get to take out their frustrations on lowly Florida Atlantic next week."
