Where did you read the accounts from the guy that was found? All I have seen are reports about the searches, but nothing about what happened. I am interested to read about what happened out there.

2-7 hours of life expediency in 60 degree water (immersed) Given that the water wasn't 60 degrees and what condition they were in I guess they should be on the high end of the scale. Physical exhaustion would happen pretty quickly trying to stay on top of a small boat that has capsized in 6-8' seas. All you have left after that is the will to live.

Here's a little more info…it's dated, but a little more perspective and commentary:

That gives a little more insight. Thanks for posting it. I still don't understand why guys would remove their life jackets and float away. Why not leave them on and float away? That ensures a better chance of survival.

I think that was the point, they didnt want to suffer through heat stroke and dehydration and prefered to drown since it would be over quicker.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

I get that, but I would think that people would have a stronger will to live than that. 3-4 hours in an throwing in the towel. People have struggled through much more difficult situations and demonstrated the will to carry on. I am not judging here. I am just surprised that they would give up that quickly. It is unfortunate.
