I think Texas State is trying to go C-USA

I think that would be too big a leap for that program, they need to start in the Belt before heading up to Conference USA especially if they are planning on joining in basketball as well…they wont win a conference game.  Being from Texas I am very familiar with that program and its not as good as FAU's….if anybody is going to Conf USA in my opinion its Troy, MTSU, or FAU.

I agree that the Sun Belt is a better fit for them. But I don't think that the SBelt wants to be known as the "entry way to FBS" football.

Than they should get more bowl tie-ins for the conference and add a championship game, nobody takes the SunBelt serious because it is not managed properly.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

They apparently don't mind.

Look, I understand that South Alabama is in the SBC for basketball but they don't even have a football team yet. Most teams have to battle through Div.2 and earn their way into Div.1. Here the SBC is saying, look, scrape together a team and we'll let you join in a few years.

How can that not be looked at as an entryway conference?

So they do it to themselves. At least they've been telling the schools, hey, beef up your campus, become more traditional, build acceptable athletic facilities, promote your events harder to increase your attendance. That's a step in the right direction.

Georgia Southern has been a 1-AA powerhouse for years. The original Adrian Peterson played RB for them in the late 90s and was a beast.

For those of you who are not familiar with the real AD here is one of his runs. It may be one of the best runs ever in college football history.

Georgia State will start in 2010.

GO OWLS!!!

I remember watching him play on ESPN, he was unbelievable.

Yeah, wow. Ironically, it looks like his own teammate was the one to finally stop him.

It's too bad he is a bust in the NFL

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Are most of these schools going d2 to d1 or d-1AA to d-1A. I believe most of them are going D-1AA (FCS) to D-1A (FBS)

The amount of facilities, student body size, money and scholarships to go from d2 to d1 is A LOT HARDER to accomplish than FCS to FBS.

I was at GSU when Peterson was still there.  Man was he amazing on the field. I ended up having an athlete training class with him my freshman year.  He turned out to be a very nice and humble guy off the field. Only thing with him was that he had a horrible stuttering problem worst ive ever seen.  Even up to his last years in college he was still having to take developmental speaking classes.  Always felt bad for the guy.  Man was he a beast though.
