Found this weird board about FAU

It's been referred to the battle of I-95 several times.  I think the inaugural game they even made shirts that said that.

That is actually disturbing that someone would spend that incredible amount of time (the detail is amazing) creating 11 pages of fake information etc.  ::)  I love FAU as much as anyone, but I wouldn't want that guy near my family.

If you look at the avatar's on the board it actually looks like it was some women and if their avatars are pictures of themselves they don't look to bad. They do have a lot of time on their hands but it's pretty cool.

Re: Found this weird board about FAU

I think the only reason that FAU was winning in these is because we had absolutely insane punt and kickoff returners…they kept on winning best returner, so when you can score 14 points on special teams, plus get lots of interceptions with the amazing linebackers he was playing with, its no wonder that we won the Car Care Bowl, some other bowl (Chic-fil-A or Gator), Fiesta Bowl, National Championship, and Rose Bowl.

Its fun, but the idea that FAU is getting a top 5 recruiting class every year (#1 one of the years) is a little crazy.  Also the ACC kicking Duke down to the Sun Belt is silly considering the basketball program, at the very least they would move to the Big East.  Oh and in the 2007 season, FIU went to the New Orleans Bowl and got romped by a 3-8 Notre Dame team (how they got a bowl don't know).

hahaa I guess in there world even teams with 3 wins can go to bowl games. It's a bit of a stretch, c'mon FIU was bad last 2 years but to go to a bowl game and lose to a 3-8 team is a little absurd lol

Looks like we had some kick @ss seasons. I was skimming through it, wasn't about the read all 35 pages. Our QB threw for a school record 6 TD's in one game. 3 of them to the same WR

Here's the ACC layout WITHOUT Duke

I also like the name they suggested for the game against FIU. The I-95 battle sounds a lot better then the Shula Bowl

The Shula Bowl has a nice link to history which makes it a good name. It is also recognizable. I think if FAU ever gets going with Miami then that could be the I-95 Battle.

Re: Found this weird board about FAU

Hi all!

Yes this is Jokerace from over on Utopia. I have actually bee a member of this board for a bit. However, I only really come on the board during football season. Honestly though I don't think I have more than 1 post (before this one) on the board. I mainly come here to read for more info on the Owls.

With that said though, I am glad that (most) everyone is enjoying my dynasty.  8)

There is actually a bit of history to my (fake) FAU Owls. The dynasty that was first linked by Jab979 is not the first Owls dynasty I have ever done. This one is being done using EA's NCAA  '08 on the X-Box. I actually started doing FAU Dynasties back in 2003 with EA's NCAA 04. I will get into that more later with a history of how the dynasties have evolved.

For now though I will answer the posts you guys have made……

I was just doing some stuff on Google mainly looking around to see about recruiting and I came across this.. .

I am surprised, but glad, that my dynasty came up when you were Google-ing for FAU stuff.

Also I thank you for linking it here, I love new readers. 8)

I came upon this also a while ago. It seems to be someone's team from a football video game played online. Strange stuff though.

Heh, I am not gonna say that I am not strange in some ways. However, doing a dynasty is actually quite normal, at least on sports gaming boards such as Utopia.

And yes as I stated above, this is a video game NCAA '08.

SeminOWL2006 said

That is actually pretty cool….Owls joining the ACC? Undefeated season? AWESOME!

Glad you enjoy it.

Well you can't keep a team as talented as these Owls are (in my dynasty) in the Sun Belt. I will get into that more later when I post the history of all the dynasties.

Jab979 said

read that but if you read further into it, it says we have to go back to the sunbelt for some reason lol. The whole thing was weird bu tthe graphics were pretty cool

I try to put as much graphics and videos in my dynasty reports just to add some color and try to involve the reader as much as possible. It is nice to know that readers enjoy them though. 8)

Well FAU sort of had to go back to the Sun Belt in this dynasty. What happens is each new installment of EA's game has the teams in their real conferences. And since you can't move the real teams I had to start with FAU in the Sun Belt.

However in this dynasty, NCAA '08, I wanted to continue using the players (most of them were named by posters who follow my dynasty on Utopia) that we named in my NCAA '07 dynasty. So I renamed all the players to the capped names from my 2007 team, and they were a HELL of a LOT better rated (according to the in game ratings for players) than the current Owls.

So since the Owls team I was using in the NCAA '07 game was in the ACC, but the team I had now using NCAA '08 had to start in the Sun Belt again. I just made up a story line of FAU getting into trouble with the ACC for mispayments of $$ and had to move back to the Sun Belt. As the seasons went on though the ACC saw how good the team was and were invited back in. (The game has a function where user controlled teams can be invited to better conferences as they improve. Once you are in a BC$ conference though you stay in that conference unless you start sucking and they kick you out, just like Duke was sucking so they invite us to the ACC after the 2008 season and Duke went to the Sun Belt replacing FAU).

That is absolutely ridiculous.

GO OWLS!!!

Actually no I don't have too much time on my hands, this is a hobby of mine. I usually just spend some time on a Sunday doing as many games as I can and then post up the info. Also if I have a vacation from work or during the holidays, if I don't take the family on a trip, I use a day here or there and do as much as I can and then post that info up.

The said

What the… Well, looks like we punted Duke from the ACC.  I wonder if we replaced them in basketball, too.  ;D

BCS title in 2010!  Yeah, baby.  And beat UF by 3 TDs, too.  Does this guy have any ties to FAU?

Yes we replaced Duke in the ACC and they went to the Sun Belt after the 2008 season. No this gaem only deals with football not basketball. ;)

That was actually the first BC$ Title I have ever won in all my dynasties (dating back to NCAA '04). UF has become a bit of a rival for this team. At this time though (4 games into the 2012 season) we hold a 2-0 lead over the Gaytors. We won 31-10 in the 2010 season and  27-24 in the 2011 season.

The only "ties" I have to FAU are that my wife graduated from FAU, and I am a fan of the football program  and Coach Schnelly in RL. (I grew up as a Hurricane fan and will always respect Schnelly for what he did for the Miami program)!

The said

If you look deeper in the thread, there are videos of the games.  UF in our house, with our logo on the field.

Yep, I try to add at least 1-2 mins worth of video for each game to the reports I put up. The stadium used in the game is actually EA's representation of Lockhart.

The only thing about the logos though, is that even though we are in the ACC the field still has the Sun Belt logo. Most of the people who play the game think this is due to the licensing agreement EA has with the NCAA.

Jab979 said

It's a little much but it's quite amusing to read

Glad you are enjoying it. 8)

Jab979 said

Do they have a name of the stadium or is just FAU stadium?

They go really in depth too, they have the name of our head coach, the Co-ordinators, they even posted the coach's record lol.

"BCS title in 2010!  Yeah, baby.  And beat UF by 3 TDs, too.  Does this guy have any ties to FAU"?

If you read the top of page 1 it says this is all for fun and that this isn't real and they have no ties to FAU and if anyone from FAU asked them to stop they would. Maybe they were board. Can you add on to the story? I see it was like 35 pages long

It is EA's representation of Lockhart and is called Lockhart stadium in the game.

EA does a decent job of keeping the records of the user made coach.

Yes I just do this as a hobby. I have no ties to the university and/or FAU's athletic department. Mainly this dynasty, and all my previous ones, are just for my fun and enjoyment. I post them up at Utopia, and another board before that for NCAA '04 & '05, just in case others enjoy reading along.

The said

I didn't see a name of the stadium.  Looks like they use real stadiums for all the opponents, so for all I know, it's Lockhart.  Go to page 12 to see the 3-minute national championship game highlights.  Our guys running off the field with the big trophy was kind of inspiring in a really geeky way.

Yes it is Lockhart.

As far as the part I bolded goes…wasn't it though? 8)

Jab979 said

Well it won't happen in 2010 like they said on that board but it's nice to see that there other people with hopes and dreams and thinking of the bigger picture aside from us on the board.

I'm sure this took time too, but it seems pretty interesting in a weird sorta way lol

Once again the dynasty is just for my fun and enjoyment (and hopefully the enjoyment of my readers). It really doesn't follow RL, would be nice it RL followed the dynasty though. ;)

Yes it does take a bit of time to do, but most hobbies do also. I would say it takes me about 3-3 1/2 hours to post each week's worth of info. (A week's worth of info in the game contains the pre-gram report, the game report, and the weekly report after the game.) The main reason it takes that amount of time is two fold …..

1) Running the game takes about 1-1 1/2 hours to run.

2) Then it takes me about 45 minutes or so to cut the video using the game parts I record and making the movie in Windows Movie Maker.

The said

Looks like we made a run in '11, too, but we let the ACC title game slip away to FSU.  Still spanked Penn State in the Rose Bowl, though.

Yep watching (I don't play the games. I set the game up for CPU Vs. CPU as my eye hand skills are not what they used to be when I was younger. Also I feel the game plays truer using the ratings for the players than it would If I actually controlled the Owls) the ending of the ACC Champ game against F$U that season was heartbreaking to watch.

But as you said the team came out swinging in the Rose Bowl!

Jab979 said

haha pretty funny stuff.

You see the coaches record? I think it was like 62-9. Haven't looked at it in a while but if I remember it also said we are now 4-1 in bowl games and we have won 3 sun belt championships and 1 Conference USA title as well.

Who is this coach can we hire him as Howard's successor?  ;) (I'm kidding I know he's not real)

Actually in the current dynasty (for NCAA '08) we have 2 Sun Belt titles the 2007 & 2008 season, and one ACC title in the 2010 season.

In my NCAA '07 dynasty, which is linked in my signature on Utopia, we had 3 Sun Belt titles, 1 or 2 Conference USA titles (in that dynasty we (FAU) had to go through C-USA for a season or 2 before getting an invite to the ACC).

The coach record is so good because the team is awesome. In the current NCAA '08 dynasty the team started a LOT better than the base FAU team due to me manually transferring my team from NCAA '07 to NCAA '08 (I used all the names and ratings of the players from the last season of my NCAA '07 dynasty), and then the team (with the coaches' good recruiting) just keeps reloading!

Lol, no Dynasty coach T.B. Lyns would not want to replace Schnelly in RL, he has to much respect for Schnelly! 8)

Anybody notice how the head coach and the DC look the same, except the HC has a hat?

BTW, it does look like Lockhart.  If you look at the 2010 UF pictures, you'll see it.  We played UF in Lockhart.  We won the BCS title out of Lockhart.  Yeah.

Blame EA for that. There are VERY few choices you can use to create how the coaches look.

It is Lockhart yes.

Jab979 said

Who did we end up beating for that lovely looking trophy?

The UCLA Bruins.

SeminOWL2006 said

Haha, yeah we have insane seasons and yet the average attendance each year doesn't break ~23,000  Lockhart baby!

Once again blame EA. The way the game works is that you can't improve your stadium. So whatever your max seating capacity is in RL is what it is in the game.

I wish there was a way to make your stadium bigger as your team gets better. But alas EA doesn't seem to agree with that idea.

Jab979 said

Even in 2012 we still beat up on FIU, but hey at least the game isn't T'Giving weekend

Yep FIU has not improved at all as the seasons go on.

SeminOWL2006 said

We beat an undefeated UCLA team for the national championship in 2010 to go 14-0.  Plus we had the Heisman winner.  In the 2012 season we have 3 of the top 5 Heisman watch list candidates….

Correct about the 2010 team.

Yes right now we have 3 players on the Heisman list. However, after the last game I put up (that was simmed), 2 of the players dropped off the list. Including (QB) Ty Webb, who had been #1 on the list, dropped out of the top 5 after throwing 4 TD's and running for 3 TD's in the simmed game. >:(

We have had some very good players on this team over the seasons.  The game you are referring to was during the 2007 season (1st season of this dynasty) where (QB) Jay Morgan threw  6 TD's in a game against Middle Tennessee State. His target was (TE) Max Laughton. (Both of those players were named by posters who follow the dynasty on Utopia)

Honestly, I had no idea that people called it that (as another poster states below) when I thought up the idea during my NCAA '04 dynasty. It just seemed kind of a funny/interesting thing to have the teams play for an old dusty 1-95 Sign that is nailed to a peace of wood. :)

To be truthful, I also think it would be a better name in RL than the "Shula Bowl". /shrug

I am splitting this post into 2 parts so I can remark on both topics.

Yes your are correct to a certain point. The special teams are/were AWESOME on these teams. The other reason this team was winning early was also due to the fact that we had a MUCH better team than anyone else in the Sun Belt. Our players were FAR superior mainly due to me manually moving over all my players from the last season of my NCAA '07 dynasty to begin in this NCAA '08 dynasty, while all the other Sun Belt teams were using their default RL 2007 rosters.

Also you are correct about the linebackers, they were some of the best I have EVER had in ANY of my dynasties.

SeminOWL2006 said

Well you can blame EA about the recruiting classes. Even with self imposed recruiting rules, if your team is good players will want to come to your program.

As far as Duke goes. Well 1) It isn't real life, 2) This game deals with ONLY football. It doesn't take any of the school's other sports teams into account.

Once again blame EA. The programming has some faults, IE Notre Lame getting a bowl with a losing record.

However, I am glad you are getting enjoyment out of the dynasty. 8)

Jab979 said
