How about FAU applying for say, 10M of this economic stimulus package, then using this to get the bonds to get the stadium built. No naming rights or selling off the dorm income for years, and turning that 10M into a 62M construction project employing thousands for quite a while and boosting the local economy and the university as well!!!!!

This is a horrible idea.  You want to discuss politics, go to a political board – there are enough of them.

I was on a board a few years back that had a political forum, and it got extremely heated at times.  The mods were absolutely useless, would gang up on people they disagreed with and call in their lieutenants and the board admins (who all thought alike) to put down anyone who spoke out of line.  And then it was hard to make nice with them on the other forums after they took personal shots at you in the political forum while hiding behind all their buddies, who outnumbered guys who think like me at least 5-to-1, maybe more.  It was not a nice place to be.

They finally had to get rid of the political board altogether and ban any political talk whatsoever – that's how bad it got.  I like it here, and I don't want to see that happen to this board.  I strongly suggest we don't go there.

I tend to agree with Big Dog on this one.  there are plenty of places to discuss politics, I don't think it's necessary to go in that direction on an FAU board.  I also agree it can alienate individuals for their political views that will be carried over to other discussions.

Yes, I saw a brief article on it. The article was broader in form and focused on the porn industry and questions about whether or not it is recession proof. The argument was that in other recessions the industry didn't feel any negative economic impact. However, the claim made by peddlers of porn is that the current economic downturn is impacting them because of the availability of web content and pirated material. Two examples given in the article were Larry Flint and the GGW guy. As such people who can't afford to pony up $19.95 for Girls Gone Wild or for their subscription to Hustler due to economic hardship can now still get their fix via internet porn. The result is that the the porn industry is feeling the impact of this recession and Flint and the GGW guy have asked for government money to help them through this difficult time. ONLY IN AMERICA.

I thought that was the point… that your business has to evolve along with your customers if you want to survive.

Anyway, I feel no sympathy for them. Porn is a non-essential business. Automobiles, media, farming, airline industry… those are essential businesses.
