1) Texas will never move to the SEC. Bad fit geographically among other reasons.
2) Troy won't get the invite. They don't have enough to offer and they would struggle big time.
3) I like the Clemson idea that somebody threw out. That makes sense.
4) Georgia Tech also makes sense to make the move to the SEC.
5) I could even see Louisville making a move to the SEC. In state rival Kentucky would be in conference which would make the rivalry that much hotter. It would also open up a BIG EAST spot for FAU ;D
GO OWLS!!!
Georgia Tech was a charter member of the SEC… they left for a reason… IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPETE ON A TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL'S BUDGET
we don't need anyone to leave the big east for an opening… they have EIGHT schools in football… it's among the SMALLEST in all of the BCS conferences

Impossible to compete?? They have done pretty well in the ACC and being in the SEC wouldn't cost anymore money to be competetive.
GO OWLS!!!

Vandy to the ACC, Clemson to the SEC, West Virginia to the Big 10, Boise ST and Hawaii to Pac 10, and a couple of Florida teams to the Big East UCF and FAU plus maybe Tulane, East Carolina, and Memphis or Army/Navy…. Troy, MTSU, FIU, Western Kentucky to CUSA. Bam
And BTW who says 12 is the cap? MAC has 13 right now, and although NCAA has stopped all new 1-A teams, think of how many from the lower ranks would like to get a piece of the pie. They just have to avoid the FAMU pitfall.

Your reasoning for Clemson not moving to the SEC because they are a big boy is the same reasoning that Miami shouldn't have moved from the Big East. Clemson got the Chic-Fil-A Bowl over Boston College, both ACC teams simply because they had a different caliber of fan support. They have a lower ranking in the polls but the bring in fans and have tradition like an SEC school.

dude… there are so many incorrect statements in your post… where do i start?
vanderbilt to the ACC? the ACC has it RIGHT IN THEIR CHARTER that your school MUST be in a state that TOUCHES THE ATLANTIC OCEAN
west virginia to the Big Ten? the schools that have been thrown around for the Big Ten are: Pitt, Syracuse, Missouri, Iowa State, Tulsa… but NEVER have i heard WVU
and NCAA "capping" I-A??? that's NEWS to me… no, sorry, it's completely FALSE… South Alabama just announced the forming of a football team, I-A bound by 2013… Western Kentucky is moving up in 2009… Georgia Southern is creating a team, hoping to be I-A by 2013… FGCU and North Florida have been rumored for seeking a I-A team by 2015ish… Texas State wants to move up to I-A…
Miles Brand, NCAA President, said "i can envision a I-A field of 200 teams by 2020"… i gotta find that quote where i saw it… i'll post it as soon as i find it

Re: I wish FAU played UCF this year
-Regarding West Virginia to the Big 10
Other possible universities that have gained favor for any possible expansion for the 12th spot in the conference include:
Rutgers University[7][8]
Syracuse University[7][8]
University of Texas
University of Missouri[8]
University of Nebraska[8]
University of Pittsburgh[9]
West Virginia University [10] "
These are along with Notre Dame and maybe Iowa State
Your list included Tulsa which under the current Big 10 "charter" would not be permitted since they will only expand within their current territory or adjacent states. Granted so does the list from Wikipedia above but I didn't write that. I also don't see how it is so unbelievable that the Big 10 might consider a quality football team like west virginia with a solid, granted localized fanbase to add to the conference.
Is it that unbelievable then that the ACC would change its charter to allow a willing, quality university (such as vanderbilt) to join? I would like to see the charter as well, couldnt find it online if you could link it up that would be appreciated.
And besides, this is only a message board and I was simply giving some ideas off the top of my head.
-Regarding the NCAA not capping?
Maybe it is is news to you, but it is far from completely false. So dramatic. However, notice the NCAA imposed a moratorium in August on division switching.
http://www1.ncaa.org/membership/governance/division_I/DI_Membership_Info/Joining_DI/DIMoratoriumFAQ
Take a look at that.
WKU is already in the process so of course they aren't affected, but teams that are looking to start a transition now are out of luck for a few years. Notice that this includes reclassification within NCAA Division I and is in effect for 4 years.
GA Southern - Not sure if they already began the exploratory process to transition, if not stuck for a few years
South Alabama - Starting an FBS team from scratch will be full FBS 2013, already did exploratory so not affected
Texas State - If they didnt do exploratory they have to wait to even start their transition.
I think the point is that in the near future there is a moratorium, yes the NCAA might have 200 teams by 2020 but not yet it is apparent that they were also concerned with allowing growth to happen too fast. Watching FAMU crash and burn in its transition to FBS might have something to do with it.
I think the whole point was that you had previously said that Clemson was not a fit for the SEC. Under your reasoning, Florida would be advised to leave the SEC and go to the Big East and romp up so that they could go from harder to not so hard. If Clemson moved to SEC and won they would have alot more respect than the recently soft ACC. Troy would love to go to the SEC and as also said, why are we limiting our conferences to 12 in the first place. 12 is the MIN for a championship game, MAC has 13, and with the addition of more teams in the future, conferences of 14-16 seem reasonable.

Re: I wish FAU played UCF this year
FAU played Memphis, a beat we destroyed by 36 only because we took the foot completely off the gas. Our defense completely shut down an SEC team.
To make assumptions off of that game are foolish. BTW I'd gladly have UCF play FAU this year, or next year, or whenever.
