My mistake. Sorry.

I was thinking of Birmingham Southern, which did not drop basketball, but is downgrading to D-III. Its players were allowed to transfer to I-A schools without penalty.

the thing i dont get about DIII schools is that they say they dont give scholarships, but they have so many stipends, its like the same thing!?

They can give academic scholarships, but not athletic scholarships. D-III schools also tend to be far more selective than other schools.

Jacksonville State is in for a rude awakening if they move to 1-A. They aren't even a top flight 1-AA program.

Re: Jacksonville State (AL) going I-A?

we were only around for 3 years… lol

it doesn't matter what your program is NOW, it matters what your program CAN BE - and that reflects the leadership of administration, coaches and university board of trustees (we have 2 of the 3, hahaha, damn BOT)

anything that can help us to the Big East is awesome with me…

Jacksonville State comes in, goes to the Belt (??)
Georgia Southern comes in, goes to the Belt (??)
South Alabama comes in, goes to the Belt
Western Kentucky comes in, goes to the Belt

that's potentially four new teams to the Belt, which helps us catapult into the Big East

GO OWLS

USA and WKU are already in the 'Belt (as FIU was). They need no approval to join in football.
