OK…
Bytor and I have tried our best to keep this a private matter, but since we've been called out we have no choice to respond.
First, regarding locked threads, you could probably count all the threads we have locked since this forum began on your fingers. We have always been VERY restrained. Indeed, until these threads were locked, we were receiving criticism from several members over the discussion we were letting go unmoderated.
A pattern of usage was observed. It was brought to our attention by several users of the board. This indicated that there was one person who had created a second account. Keeping with our hands-off preference, we let this go (for well over a month!). We eventually had no choice to terminate the access of the user's second account. The collected IP addresses were *always* identical for the two users. The IPs were NOT FAU IP addresses, but residential ones. The user posted well outside work hours with both accounts.
Note that at this point, the user's main account still had access – only the duplicate account was blocked. This morning, another account was created from the same IP as the other two, which was also blocked.
Afterwards, for separate reasons, Bytor chose to suspend the main account for the next few days. This was also needed because of the shared IP address.
Thus, in a few days, access will be restored and, we hope, normal discussion can resume.
As was stated in the beginning of this thread, respect is essential! I have the fullest respect and appreciation for all who participate here (go Owls!). Bytor and I always try to moderate this site with that leading principle. However, when faced with irrefutable evidence and numerous requests from many members we had to (reluctantly) take this action.
If you have any questions, please post them here and I will be glad to respond. Also, if you have any feedback or comments in general, this would be a good place to discuss. After all, this message board is for you – what do you want it to be?
WOW! That's F'ing nuts.

Believe me, this was considered. Other factors also played into this that lead to the decision. He was given plenty of chances to save face & he could have easily excepted the 7-day suspension quietly & no one would have known any difference, but chose to continue after many warnings.
This was not an overnight decision, but one that was formulated over a two week period.
