Re: Nebraska Spring Red vs. White Game

Alabama had 78,000

And last year, Saban's first year, they drew 92,138.

Yeah… suffice to say we have a long way to go.

Like things, love people.

Re: Nebraska Spring Red vs. White Game

You know all they do in Nebraska is grow corn and watch football and play basketball.

I think the next "Spring Game" should be that - a Game - with a game-like atmosphere, the kids wear game jerseys (I think we are getting new uniforms this Fall so maybe they wanted to sell them at this game as they wore game jerseys last year ? ), we have 2 teams and they keep score just like a real game.

Perhaps next Spring in our NEW on-campus stadium - can't wait until Thursday !

I agree…this "guess who has what number on game" is stinkin lame!

I was talking to Graham Wilbert and he was telling me how he visited Nebraska. He said that they drove five miles out away from the stadium and you could still see it. He said it seemed like there's absolutely nothing to do there but support college football. That's why they had so many people at the Spring Football game… same thing with Gainesville. It's just the most popular thing going.

Thats a college town for you. And one thing is for sure, Boca will never be one.

That doesn't really matter. We can have a very strong fan following without being in a town that is entirely driven by the university.

Re: Nebraska Spring Red vs. White Game

Most if not all of these "college towns" are from when the college was probably the only thing around back in the late 1800's early 1900's. When FAU was built it was a much different time.

Boca could survive just fine without FAU whereas if you took the colleges out of Ithaca (Cornell, Ithaca college) or Gainesville there would be literally NOTHING there it would be just another hick town that no one has really heard of

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Here's an interesting thought… and I know this would take a long time but…

If you look at Wellington, Jupiter, hell, even look at what they've started to build down in Boynton… it seems like there are many cities in South Florida that offer (or will offer soon) the sort of luxurious, cosmopolitan lifestyle that Boca sells. What if FAU grows and builds a football stadium and people then are tempted to move north to these other places… Wellington certainly doesn't have a university (nor will it, although they might get a branch campus of PBCC). It's possible that as FAU grows, people will shift north towards the upcoming glamour of these places, allowing college students to flourish more comfortably here in Boca Raton… don't you think?
