Stores/entertainment catering to FAU students = bad business venture?

FAUfasho said

There is, but it only serves beer, and wine, plus the atmosphere isn't very good.

Yeah the atmosphere sucks at Coyote Jack's… can't really put my finger on why it does but it does. It was only a slight step up from Wackadoos as opposed to a great leap.

The pool tables are great though.

Well the first thing is EVERY FAU game should be televised at Coyote Jacks. We shouldn't have to go to Duffy's for the biggest game in the history of the school. I know they don't get CSS but there's gotta be something they can work out. With games being televised on ESPN and the Big 10 network games should be at Coyote Jacks.

I remember when we made the NCAA tourney they showed the game at Wackadoo's and it was PACKED there. I remember having friends get there an hour before the game just to get seats, it was a great atmosphere and it was so much fun. No reason why we can't experience that again

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

like Fledge said he must be making some serious dough to open up a place in Boca.
Yeah, you're probably right. So how do places like the Comic Book store stay in business? I can't imagine they're making mad money…

Yeah but the food and alcohol selection is better at Duffy's… that's the main hurdle there. The only way I would choose Coyote Jack's (in its current form) over Duffy's is if Duffy's wasn't hosting the game. Just being honest.

We all go to Duffy's to watch away games (like the opener against Texas this year) and if there are too many people there, they are usually showing the game at the Miller Ale House (on Yamato west of I-95) and Coyote Jack's is usually the third option. I don't know if Murphy's shows the games… I always go to Duffy's.

The Ale House is my spot after a home game… come back from Lockhart and go righ to the Ale House. You usually see a lot of FAU jerseys and stuff at Ale House after the home games.

Duffy's would be the bar that is the "official" watch party for FAU away games. Not a big fan of Duffy's because in that small room there's so many people and it was always so hot in there

but does Duffy's really promote them self's as being the bar that FAU fans should go to Duffy's should start doing that or we need a bar that will. A bar that has FAU stuff all through out it if someone form out of town walks into Duffy's they are not going to be like this must be the place for FAU fans also if Duffy's just threw a little bit of money at the school or stadium maybe get something going where the announcer fir the games both on the radio an TV say ''Next week when FAU travels to ….. make Duffy's your official road rally place to watch the games. I know Duffys is small but we should make our place .

Re: Stores/entertainment catering to FAU students = bad business venture?

The problem with making it all about FAU is this:

What are you going to do when a game is not on?

That place will be a ghost town.  A bar like this just can't cater to FAU, we don't have the following nor the student body for that.

Decking it out in FAU garb would be great, but probably a turn off to the people that make up most of our community - retirees.  Creating a place that caters to everyone is your best bet.  Then, if you want to make it all about FAU on gamedays, that's a good idea, but it won't solely keep you afloat.

Like things, love people.

Re: Stores/entertainment catering to FAU students = bad business venture?

How big is FAU's student body?  I think it'd be big enough for a bar like that.  I know UCF has quite a few bars with nothing but UCF garb on the walls, in fact one bar across from campus is called "Knights Library".  They have every game on there, but even when there aren't games they are pretty busy.  They have one of the biggest happy hours in East Orlando and sponsor tons of events there.  With the college crowd they are busy at least 5 nights out of the week.

There's another bar opening on university called "TD's" and it will be a UCF football themed sports bar.  This will go along with Library, Devaneys, Liquid Cellar, Pounders, etc.

I don't see why someone from FAU can't open an FAU themed bar.
