The lesson is don't eat a crap load of things you should not be eating!

As a follow-up to the dead roach eater, cross raw eggs off the list too…

Used to put them in morning shakes, but no thanks now!

Like almost all things moderation is the key.

Eating 1 or 2 raw eggs every now and then is not going to kill you.

Stupidity kills people more often then not.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

28 eggs is ~ 170 grams of protein and who knows how much cholesterol. Maybe it was a liver overload.

I used to eat raw eggs in a shake till someone told me that if by chance you happen to get just ONE that had salmonella, you will get so sick you'll want to die! So I stopped.

Roughly 5,200 milligrams of cholesterol or about a spoon full of straight heart-stopping lipoproteins. Lord knows I've done dumber things when I was 20 but sheesh.

As a general rule of thumb, don't binge eat anything.

We talked in class about patients eating too many raw eggs and developing a biotin deficiency, but I don't recall it being fatal.

Rick, do you exchange the raw eggs for whey protein powder? Same end result, no salmonella?

Actually, whey has a higher bio-availability than egg whites. So whey would be the better choice for protein quality and safety. Just be aware of the amount of lactose in the powder. I don't know of you can get it lactose free but 2% or less is good.

+1

And, no…had to give it up…since having kidney stone surgery, the morning ritual is now 8oz of fresh squeezed lemonade, a VITB100, and 2 ginseng…on an empty stomach.

Good stuff, and would encourage anyone to try it out…of course other things can be added in as well, but will not return to raw eggs…nothing to do with this though.

The comment was made about a change which occurred a long while back.

Only "living" foods I eat now (uncooked) are fruits and veggies.

Interesting mix. I wish you the best.

Salmonella is nasty stuff. I spent 10 days in the ICU and almost three additional weeks in at home recovery due to salmonella when I was in high school. The last thing I said to my mom before going to the emergency room was "I think I am going to die". I truly meant it.

GO OWLS!!!
