Wow, this is one of those places to think of when we are all complaining about our personal situations.  Always remember, no matter how bad you think you got it, there's always someone who's worse off.

Other than the obvious health risks, I think it would be cool to take a walk around an adandoned town like that.  Reminds me of a town (I forget the name) up in Penn. or WV, where they used to do a lot of coal mining.  I guess down in the mines there are still some huge coal fires burning that supposedly last decades or longer.  Same thing happened there, the gov. came in, moved the people out, and deserted the town.  I saw a documentary on TV about it, really interesting stuff.  There is a website some where that maps all the current coal fires, and tells you how big they are, how long they've burnt, and so on.  I didn't realize any of that was happening.

Yeah, I think you might be referring to Centralia PA. Truly weird stuff.
