UCF to host bowl game in 2009?

Here is info about the bowl, if any FAU fans leave near Orlando, it might be wise to get a membership bc that is basically the right to best seats.  A membership just provides the right to buy tickets I am told, but it fully tax deductible which is really nice.  In Apr the organization is going to NCAA to pitch the bowl, which will prob be for 2010 year since that is when other bowls contracts expire.

The organization which is doing the bowl is the  www.OrlandoSportsFoundation.com , the bowl's charity is Breast Cancer which is huge because that is a very popular charity.    Many non-football fans/corporations will support just bc of the charity and they can give out  tickets for really good seats to employees or clients.

CUSA one of the conferences the other is still confidential but if you live near Orlando, it would be wise to get in before the rights to the best seats are taken.

Yep, buy your seat rights now.  No telling how fast people will scoop up those tickets when UTEP takes on Northern Illinois in the inaugural UCF Bowl.

It's not UCF's bowl. It's a bowl game in Orlando. It's not like the NCAA Final Four where a school "hosts" the tournament and provides the staff and volunteers. (i.e. 2008 NCAA Final Four - Univ. of Texas - San Antonio)

Re: UCF to host bowl game in 2009?

Never claimed it was "our" bowl.  But, it's at our stadium, was founded in accordance with our administration, and from what I hear has a "portability" clause which means when/if UCF moves conferences, it comes WITH UCF.

And Big Dog- it's likely at least 2 bowls will fold this year in bad locations which means it'll most likely be CUSA vs. Big East or CUSA vs. SEC.  It will be attractive because it's set to be a mid-range pay-out, thus being able to attract teams from those conferences.

Finally, it's a bowl game but it actually has a great cause that it supports, rather than just being an avenue for a corporation to put it's name on.

Woot….I mean hoot  :)  Good bowl game for a good cause played in a great place…

This is exactly why it helps to have an on-campus stadium guys - hopefully fau can play catch up.

Its really killing us.

Lockhart is really the only thing holding us back from moving foward.

If and when Confrence shake ups happen, we HAVE to have the stadium in place or close to completeion.

Whats the latest deadline? End of Feb to start Construction?

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Update: The ACC pulled out of the Humanitarian Bowl (Idaho) and is seeking a new bowl.

They've been calling Orlando….

I know the ACC pulled out of Boise.  Do you have a link to where they are talking with the "new bowl"?
