Update on FIU v MTSU

Guys, that was not even remotely similar to the same Middle Tennessee team that played Florida Atlantic.  Middle Tennessee's offensive and defensive schemes have changed and there have been several personnel changes in the lineups on both sides of the ball.  I am surprised at how well our freshman quarterback did today against an FIU defense that led the league in sacks and tackles for loss.  I'm pleased.  I hope we can start playing every game with the fire that we had this evening.  I think we can win a few in the Sun Belt if we played with that kind of passion.

At least they were respectable against Miami, but 47 points against MTSU? Jebus they suck!

Yeah that is surprising.  FIU isn't very good.  They are very young and inexperienced, but geez…they aren't 41 points worse than MTSU.  I'm never one to blame coaching more than the players on the field, but to come out and be down 44-0 at half time to a rebuilding MTSU team?  To me, that shows FIU came into that game totally unprepared.  I mean they played relatively close games against UM and Maryland.  I know their offense isn't very good and can't move the ball much against anyone, but I figured that their defense would at least give them a chance against MTSU.  Either FIU has even less talent then I thought or they were woefully unprepared to play in this game.  Either way, that losing streak is going to keep going for a while…although I'm pulling for them to somehow upset Troy next week.  ;D

Re: Update on FIU v MTSU

It's not easy being an FIU fan after a loss….debacle…like that one.  What can I say?  I hope one day our team regains the right course….I don't know.  I fully expected to have another rough season, winning maybe one or two games, so the win-loss record doesn't really surprise me.  The way this team got manhandled in that first half was very discouraging.  I'm hoping it was just a freak of nature thing that happened……

BTW, we are staying the course and in IA….one day…one year (maybe?)..we will regain that Shula Trophy!

Re: Update on FIU v MTSU

I wouldn't judge Cristobal too early.  For one, Raiderinthezone mentioned FIU led the league for sacks and tackles for losses.  Well, Antwan Barnes now plays on Sundays, and Keyonvis Bouie is on an NFL practice squad.  Secondly, MC is attempting to implement a new offense with Strock's players.  I'd give him another year or two before rushing to judgment, after all he did inherit a 0-12 team who had 2 players drafted.  I just hope FAU continues is stronghold on the Shula Trophy.

To steal a line from John Stossel "GIVE ME A BREAK!"…You guys played a crap ass team that would make any team look good. MTSU is still the same bottom of the conference team we spanked last month. Do yourself a favor, don't start thinking that your season is about to turn around because you are just going to be setting yourself up for disappoint.

Diehard, are you serious?  Did you watch MTSU vs. Louisville?  I realize Louisville's D is suspect, but MTSU is definitely not the same team we spanked.

Re: Update on FIU v MTSU

MTSU lacks consistent play. You never know which team will show up week to week. Also, Louisville isn't nearly as good as most people thought. The way MTSU played against Louisville doesn't mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things.
