Update on FIU v MTSU

It's not easy being an FIU fan after a loss….debacle…like that one.  What can I say?  I hope one day our team regains the right course….I don't know.  I fully expected to have another rough season, winning maybe one or two games, so the win-loss record doesn't really surprise me.  The way this team got manhandled in that first half was very discouraging.  I'm hoping it was just a freak of nature thing that happened……

I was reading some of the comments made by FIU fans on their (your) board and they share your feelings. I give credit to anyone who can say, "Yeah, we're behind the curve but we have hope that thing will change."

Something that I don't quite understand is why the FIU people say, "We don't care about FAU – look at the attendance for our games. FIU fans don't care about playing FAU." So I'm wondering why that is, if you think that's going to change this year, or what it will take to get it to change so that winning the Shula Bowl means as much for fans as it does for the players?

Guys, that was not even remotely similar to the same Middle Tennessee team that played Florida Atlantic.  Middle Tennessee's offensive and defensive schemes have changed and there have been several personnel changes in the lineups on both sides of the ball.  I am surprised at how well our freshman quarterback did today against an FIU defense that led the league in sacks and tackles for loss.  I'm pleased.  I hope we can start playing every game with the fire that we had this evening.  I think we can win a few in the Sun Belt if we played with that kind of passion.

To steal a line from John Stossel "GIVE ME A BREAK!"…You guys played a crap ass team that would make any team look good. MTSU is still the same bottom of the conference team we spanked last month. Do yourself a favor, don't start thinking that your season is about to turn around because you are just going to be setting yourself up for disappoint.

Just the type of comment I'd expect to hear from someone as classless as you.  Grow up, buddy.  You might still be a college prick, but someday you're going to have to be a man and be responsible instead of constantly showing your rearend and bringing shame to your university and your family.

Diehard, are you serious?  Did you watch MTSU vs. Louisville?  I realize Louisville's D is suspect, but MTSU is definitely not the same team we spanked.

I am dead serious…And no I did not watch the MTSU vs Louisville game…Did you watch the MTSU vs. Western Kentucky game? MTSU stinks. I am happy though that they pounced on FIU

Just wait until you hit the field against Arkansas State and Troy.  You think a Sun Belt title is in the bag because you beat one of the most inexperienced teams Middle Tennessee and North Texas have ever fielded?  I saw FAU play against Oklahoma State and Kentucky and those losses were as expected.  I think it's super that you think Howard Schnellenberger is the coming of Christ for FAU, but I don't think even he would be as gullible as you and bag in wins against Arkansas State, Troy, and even the Louisiana schools.  FAU hasn't won the Sun Belt yet, and Middle Tennessee hasn't lost it yet.  Dwight Dasher had one day to prepare for Western Kentucky.  He had seven for FIU.  He looked really good with more preparation.

FAUDiehard, you still are in my book the most classless fan of Florida Atlantic University I have ever encountered.  It's a good thing most Owl fans aren't as high-strung and possibly drunk 24 hours 7 days a week and most likely underage as you.

I don't think like that.  I think it means a lot, for the players and for me as a FIU fan. There are some that have said that, and I don't speak for them, nor I share those views.  It's kind of similar to some FAU fans that might be more civil and courteous in their responses, and some elect to be "tough" and not too diplomatic in their response, like some I just read here, in this very same thread.  It's the nature of some people.  Some express the same event in very different ways, and you don't agree with all of them, let alone explain why they might or might not think one way or another.

Excellent response. Despite the variability in mindset, I think we can agree that the attendance speaks quite objectively. And don't get me wrong, I think the blame for that lies on both sides of the ball. I see a slow increase unless either get a spike of media attention because of a major upset.

Re: Update on FIU v MTSU

Just look at what is happening this year with the top teams, no game is a gimme and if you don't come ready to rumble you will get knocked off your pedestal.

Especially in the SB, where any team can beat anyone on any given Sat., each game must be taken seriously or your dreams of a conference title will be flushed down the toilet, just as quickly.

One game at a time.
