Boosters are deeply entrenched into most major successful programs. I guess it's like a necessary evil.

Are you saying boosters brought Matt to FAU? Is it Booster money that is paying his salary?

No, that is not what I am saying or implying, but there are things boosters can and cannot do and paying his salary is not one of them, but there are ways that booster can do to help that fall in the proper guide lines that do not violate NCAA rules.

Definitely not saying that. Actually, boosters can pay a coaches salary. There is no violation there.

Boosters where a big part of providing financial help to the athletic department that help seal the deal - with Doherty stature as a coach does bring a certain level of compensason which the University did not have heck of a lot of room in the budget at that time. I think it's a great thing that a group step up to get Doherty here - what he bring to the table will help with the growth process our Athletics is going through.
