In a move designed to prop up a weak football conference, The Big East has convinced TCU to leave the Mountain West and join the league as an all sports member, sources told the Daily News early this morning. Commissioner John Marinatto and Associate Commisioner in charge of communications John Paquette both flew to Dallas yesterday for the official announcement at 1 p.m. today.

That's so stupid. How can you move from the Mountain WEST to the Big EAST? Just doesn't make sense. There should be a rule that every team in the conference has to be in the same time zone,lol.

I think Boise made a big mistake by not joining an AQ conference. Aren't they moving from the WAC to the MWC. They should've tried to get into what's left of the old Big 10. They'll never play for a BCS championship playing in the MWC, while TCU will now be able to play for a championship if they have the record for it

I agree the move makes no sense geograhically - gonna be some huge travel expenses for all of the non-revenue sports! But with the Big10  having 11 teams for how many years now, why should geography matter to major academic universities, math has not mattered!

With the TCU move to the BigEast, North Texas gets a serioius look at from the Mtn. West - they need to replace the Dallas-Ft.Worth market. If asked, NT will not stay in the Belt this time around and I could not blame them!
