Re: Truth

Truth

No disrespect to Christians or anyone who believes but through years of preaching, scandal, soliciting, persecuting and hypocrisy people got fed up with it (especially the mainstream media run by Libs.)  Not saying it's right, wrong, or indifferent but just pointing out the facts associated with the double standard.

Re: Truth

I'd like to comment on the "hero" aspect suggested by the cartoon…

Collins isn't a hero but I can respect that it takes courage to out yourself as a gay person even to your family and friends, let alone to do it on a national stage as an NBA player. I wouldn't be surprised if fans try to boo/protest him in the south for entirely new reasons now.

Conversely, it takes zero courage to "out" yourself as a Christian in a sport played by predominantly Christian athletes in a predominantly Christian nation. Tebow is a phenomenal athlete and he's done some fantastic things through his faith, but at the end of the day he talks about Jesus to the point that it annoys other people - not just the media, lots of people.

And if Collins spends as much time talking about his homosexuality as Tebow talks about his Christianity, the media will bore of it as well. But right now the novelty hasn't worn off yet and they have airtime to fill… that's why the coverage seems so disproportionate.

Re: Truth

I don't know…I sort of feel that the media storm around this has already subsided, we're on to our next story.

I feel like Tebow received a ton of press about how he's a devout christian as he entered the league, maybe not in the last week, but cmon, I know more about him circumcising babies in the far east on a mission trip than I care to, the media did that to me. Thanks a lot media.

Rick, I agree that some readers might have missed the point being made by the picture. However, most of us see what we want to see. To me, the picture clearly makes the point regarding media bias against Christianity. Additionally, I think that it speaks volumes about the state of our culture today, with things being turned upside down by the media, and evil masquerading as good. Thanks for posting the picture, maybe some folks need to look at things through a different lens.

We cant cuss on this board or even use acronyms to fill in the letters…but we can openly call being gay "evil"?  Makes sense.

Re: Truth

Just some open thoughts here…….

"Christian" is a very cliche term…it's a twitter tag…it's buzz word.

In a user claiming it one might read a tweet saying #Godisgood…#allforhim…in the next #mofo this, and #bitches that.

Accordingly, living it is another matter entirely. And the difference - as pointed out by Owl2doc - between Tebow and others is that he actually does live it. That's why you hear him talking about it to the point people (who really don't want to hear it anytime) get turned off.

On a side note regarding being a hero:

Not sure why the President of the United States would take the time to call someone and congratulate them on telling the public that they show their "love" by sticking their penis in another man's anus, but whatever.

So, if he has time for that, he will Hopefully have time to honor Tebow Fan's request as well:

Tim Tebow fans make desperate plea to President Obama

"show their "love" by sticking their penis in another man's anus"…lets stick to the topic Rick, I have no desire to discuss FIU's football team.  ;)

Re: Truth

We went from a cartoon to this. I guess it worked. They are designed to spark up a conversation. But this conversation has taken a turn.
