The blue field is bad enough, but that's hideous. I don't know how you could watch a game for 3 hours.
I'm not sure that I could. It is a cool novelty, but I would think it would start bothering your eyes after a while. I'm also thinking that its gotta mess with the QB's and reciever's depth perception? Sure, you probably get used to it, but what happens when you travel and play on a regular green field?
Does this mean next year we will have a Mossy Oak Bowl with a camo field?

Red for this prep squad, and UTSA plans for an orange field soon.

Re: Turf Wars: Not just blue anymore... red... orange...
Wikipedia, as we all know, is not always accurate. But here is what it says on the subject, keying on Boise State:
"The unique blue turf has spawned several myths. The most prevalent myth is that the NCAA subsequently banned playing surface colors other than green, but allowed Bronco Stadium's field to remain blue under a grandfather clause. In reality, the NCAA has never adopted such a rule. Any school may color its playing surface (or any part, mainly the end zones) any color it wishes. Indeed, other schools have non-green football fields including the University of New Haven (blue)[12] and Eastern Washington University (red).[13] Four high schools also have non-green fields: Barrow High School in Barrow, Alaska,[14] Lovington High School in Lovington, New Mexico, West Hills High School in Santee, California, and Hidalgo High School in Hidalgo, [[Texas|TX] New Braunfels (Texas) Canyon High (red) ].[15][16]
Another myth is that, mistaking the blue field for a large body of water, birds have flown into the blue turf and to their deaths. Although Broncos coach Chris Petersen claimed to have found a dead duck on the field in 2007,[17] the origin of the duck on the field has never been confirmed."
To repeat: You never know about Wikipedia's accuracy. But this is interesting, particularly the line at the end (re the dead duck).

I follow UTSA and this is the first time I've heard of this "orange field" rumor. It's great for marketing… I'll give it that.
