Considering 52K students AND the proximity of the bowl to your campus, should have had more that 29K TOTAL ANNOUNCED fans in the seats, and I know ANYONE watching that game doubts that number. There was NOBODY in the seats for MANY game shots which showed LARGE EXPANSES of those empty seats!
You do have a lot of advantages over FAU PRESENTLY, but not for long.
You showed NOTHING to the BigEast last night, either in play or support!
But still, congrats on a good year for the team!
St Pete bowl only seats 28K for this bowl game. 20K was UCF fans, the empty sections you probably saw was closed off or RU sections. I was there and there was a vastly mostly UCF fans. As FAU fanbase grows and matures you will learn on the field is only a portion of CFB. Hopefully when expansion happens FAU will get the call over FIU, but you all need the stadium build now not next year. Good luck next year

I'll share more when it's finally "public". It broke on UCFsports.com so I don't want to sell out the guy who gets this info.
All I can say is that it's probably the biggest commits since Daunte Culpepper. And we went head to head with tons of schools.
I can respect that…didn't know it was paid info…no prob!
Well, it's on the open board now so I might as well share. There were 3 with a very probable 4th coming out of Miami Central:
Godfrey 4-star
Reese 4-star
McClain 3-star
And I've heard that Gainer (4-star) is leaning UCF's way as he wants to stick with his teammates.
I'm not so much concerned with the stars, more than the fact that they all had offers from the FSU, Florida, Nebraska, etc. of the world.

Agree…
Other than reputation of the coach who is recruiting them being a validation factor, the other is who else did…
Stars with no credible offers means zipola.

This makes me smile. Gainer is basically the same as these guys.
Godfrey's offers:
UCF COMMITTED
South Florida
Florida State
Georgia
Miami (FL)
Michigan
Tennessee
Reese's offers:
UCF COMMITTED
South Florida
Florida
Florida State
Nebraska
South Carolina
Tennessee
West Virginia

I am of the opinion that Howard has more class, charisma and intelligence in his finger nail then O'Leary has in his entire disgustingly overweight body.

While most recruiting website will agree that UCF is light years ahead of FAU talent wise there is one area you have us beat hands down and that is coaching. I think H.S. is light years ahead of O'Leary. I am of the opinion that Howard has more class, charisma and intelligence in his finger nail then O'Leary has in his entire disgustingly overweight body. I would trade coaches with you in a heart beat. (maybe not defense coachs though)
It could be worse, you could have Leavitt as your HC instead
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Honestly though, congrats you guys bounced back from a tough 2008 season.
Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Congrats for UCF making a bowl. That being said…I am happy that they are now 0-3 in bowl games in 30 years. I dont care how many fans you have travel to watch you lose. We might have a smaller crew that go to our bowl games but at least we get to celebrate a W afterwards.
Honestly though, congrats you guys bounced back from a tough 2008 season.
Yea, uh, let's just re-evaluate this "30 years" stuff that you seemingly love to throw out. Many, many of those years were spent as D3, D2, or 1-AA. In fact we were at one point considered a powerhouse D2 school that was ranked in the top 10 many times and nearly played for a national title. No, not "big time" but back then every "up and coming" school thought they could/should jump to D1. So from 1979-1996 we didn't even approach the idea of going D1.
Finally, we go to D1. The conferences aren't like they are today and we have to play independent. Do you know what this means? We have no conference to gain wins in, so we are stuck playing schedules FULL of the Georgia, Nebraska, South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia Tech, etc's of the world. Go ahead and look up our schedules around the Daunte period and tell me if you think FAU would be storming into bowl games playing those teams.
We finally get to the MAC and win 7 games our first year. No bowl game. That as life in the MAC at the time, and the Sun Belt was even worse- 1 bowl game only. The next 2 years our past coach let the wheels come off and we won 3 games, and 0 games respectively.
So there you go- the "pre-CUSA" era. Hardly a comparable environment to FAU's deal with the Sun Belt where you go to race to D1 and go play a Memphis or CMU and claim a bowl win.
Do I like 0-3? No, not at all. But we also played 3 very good teams, 2 of which have been developing under the SEC or BCS tag for years now. Do you REALLY think FAU would have beat a Miss State or Rutgers? I don't. Rutgers manhandled USF worse than us. They were a big, fast, physical team that knew how to play smash mouth football.
Let's put it this way. Flop our bowls in 2007- we play Memphis in New Orleans. We'd be able to claim a "bowl win" since we absolutely annihilated that team the very same year. Would that really mean $hit in the grand scheme of things? No.
