UCF... still can't win a bowl

I gotta clarify a couple things in this argument.  First, the attendance # of 29K is accurate, and most of that was UCF.  I think they sold their allotted 20K tickets in like 5 days, which to me is pretty impressive, and shows a faithful fan base.  The majority of empty seats in the stands were not sold because the bowl organizers did not open them.  The entire 3rd base line and outfield section was closed, so those seats remained empty, along with a lot of the upper deck.  At the last minute they opened up some upper level "obstructed view" tickets, and I ended up with a couple of those, which were actually great seats for $10.  The major complaint I have with the bowl was the lack of porta-potties in the parking lot before the game.  I seriously waited in line for 45 minutes to go. :o.

I do have to say that UCF needs to get a coach who has a "pair".  We watched the knights get to several 4th and shorts, while down by 2 touchdowns late in the 3rd, and just punt it away.  Maybe it was just me, but when you are getting outplayed in every aspect of the game and you have a chance to go for the 1st down, you go for it and try to gain some momentum back.  After the half, it just became hard to watch for the knights.  But all in all, it was a great time, sat with a good group of people, and it was one last football game to go to for the year.  Besides, UCF fans ain't all bad, some kid asked me before the game if I wanted any beer cause he was about to walk in.  I said "sure", and he proceeded to give us about a 12 pack of heinekin, so you guys are all right. :)

Lastly, we have no right to rub it in UCF's face that they lost to a decent Rutgers team in a bowl game.  WE WERE NOT EVEN ELIGIBLE FOR A BOWL!.  Thats all that really matters, they went and we did not.

Yes, the port-o-potty situation was TERRIBLE. I saw people peeing in between cars which I usually would be pissed about, but I honestly almost understood why on Saturday.

As for not going for it- I agree. That's when I left, but that's O'Leary and what he does. Our defense was playing better in the 2nd half, but you still need to go for that.

The turning point in the game was the last 1:30 of the first half and first 1 minute of the 2nd half. Hodges throws a pick 6 to end the half, and at that point we were only down 4 and were playing right with them. Then they come out in the 2nd half with the ball and hit Tim Brown for a quick TD, and things got ugly.

The bottom line is that Rutgers is a VERY good team. That kid Sanu they have is going to be a Heisman contender someday I promise you. UCF honestly got the worst draw possible for this bowl game as Rutgers was definitely the better team out of USF, Rutgers, and UConn.  I would have preferred to play USF or UConn.

About the bowl, if they are not going to sell but 29K with 20K+ being a local team, they will not be in the bowl BUSINESS for long unless they ALWAYS have a Florida team in the bowl. Hey, the frigin' NO Bowl went over 30K, with two out of state teams one of which has been there something like four of the past six years. Gotta be a lot of excitement there for those S. Miss players and fans.

I totally agree with you here.  If the organizers are going to say that the outfield bleachers are too far away from the field, then put some seats on the field or something.  Behind UCF's bench there was nothing.  I think that plays into the game too because all the noise, be it cheers or boos, is coming from the opposing team's side.  Either way, they need to do something to get more people here.
