An actual real life football stadium

Didn't need that previously.  C'mon son!

They had one previously, the Orange Bowl. It was "theirs" they didn't share an NFL stadium with a team that happens to be in another county. We've lived playing far from home, it does nothing to engage the fan base and also does nothing in the facilities arms race that is currently going on in college football.

Face it, when UM decided not to move forward with an on campus stadium after the Orange Bowl they made a decision to become a second tier football program. They can't even compete with UCF on the facilities front (let alone the likes of the "national powers" that you think they deserve to be compared to). That's a true statement.

Do you have any idea 1. what real estate costs in Coral Gables and more importantly 2. building restriction in Coral Gables are?  An NFL team couldn't afford to build a stadium in CG.

Miami's move to Joe Robbie was the beginning of a very tough road for Miami, throw in the Shapiro mess and the money issues and they are in big trouble in the next few years.  Where they end up is still up in the air but if you don't believe they are in big trouble down there you are kidding yourself.

You do realize they had no choice but to move to JRS, right?  UM did not own the OB, the City of Miami did.  They will end up at JRS, the lease is 20 years.

What money issues?  Stop throwing isht against the wall to see what sticks.

Miami's main problem right now is lack of D1 sports to move to one of the superconferences in a few years and rebuilding their depth that 10 years of Shancoker mismanagement destroyed.

Who's choice it was isn't the issue, it happened.

If you don't realize Miami has money issues you don't know nearly what you think you know. but that is becoming quite obvious.

What I do know, buddy, is that your grammar and spelling is quite poor.  Additionally, the premise of my initial post was why Tennessee is considered such a "great" job yet numerous high profile and well deserving coaches turned it down, the rest of you quickly turned this into a Miami thread.  Revisit it, my question STILL hasn't been answered.

You can paint a vague picture all you want about these mysterious money issues, lack of substance is your style.  Many of your posts are reaches at best.

If you want to talk about money issues, just look at FAU's program.  We stay in the black solely by playing body bag games, can't fill the stadium other than our first ever home game, are considering eliminating non-football related events there and are embarking on a much more rigorous travel schedule while needing to build a new weight room and several other key resources.  No fantasy land here, I very much am in tune with reality.

Re: University of Tennessee

Im pretty sure the money brought in from joining CUSA, (read it was $1 million greater than SunBelt) nevermind potential bowl game revenue, will wash the extra travel costs.

Please dont come on this board and attack FAU in defense of Miami.  You're a walmart Miami fan and a FAU graduate.  We will sell naming rights and the attendance will continue to build as we join CUSA and add more students to campus.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Didn't attack anyone. Didn't defend Miami.  Sorry that facts upset you. Who are we selling naming rights to?

If we're making statements with no bearing, don't comment on a topic just to flame. Add substance and actual thought.  Again, my initial question goes unanswered.  Everyone talks about all the resources and facilities that Tennessee has, then why haven't they been NATIONALLY relevant? Why did so many desired and accomplished coaches turn this job down?

Why aren't they landing Top 10 recruiting classes?
Why does Vandy have a better conference and SEC record?

If resources, facilities and attendance matter, why aren't they winning? They have all of them.

For the comprehension challenged, these are Tennessee questions, NOT Miami or FAU questions or statements.

I'll go on record now that Butch Jones will be out of a job in 3-4 years with nothing to show for his effort.

Re: University of Tennessee

Haha, is it not a fact that we are bringing in more money with the joining of CUSA?  Not sure how thats flaming.  I am confident that Pat Chun will sell the naming rights to our stadium in 2013, call me optomistic but I dont think that is "flaming" either.

Why dont you answer something, what does Miami have over Tennessee?  Dont say recruiting area because so do FAU and FIU in that case.

Why can't you answer the question and stay on topic? Recruiting, yes it's better than FAU & FIU.  How many Pro Bowlers workout at FAU or FIU in the offseason? Also, read my post in the 2013 commitment thread, why does FAU let kids get out of S. Fl?

Tradition. Current state notwithstanding, they set the bar for CFB in the 80's & 90's when kids parents today were growing up, also, many kids today remember the teams from 00-'05. People are focused on the Shapiro scandal and aren't paying attn to what Golden is doing there. You yourself wanted to make out with Duke Johnson (freshman AA by the way), if Miami is so down, why are kids like Duke still signing up to play there?

National appeal.  Check the ESPN tv rankings and UM holds dominant positions and still garners prime time tv spots while still down. When's the last time Tennessee was the prime time saturday game? While Miami got stomped by ND, they had the 8 pm time slot this year.  They also had the same time slot against FSU.

In fact, check out this link http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/19/the-geography-of-college-football-fans-and-realignment-chaos/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+nyt/rss/Sports+%28NYT+%3E+Sports%29&seid=auto&smid=tw-nytimessports

NYC is the largest CFB TV market, Miami is #7, Tennessee is… Nowhere to be found, not even in the rankings of viewers for teams with largest attendance.

So, I answered your questions, now answer mine.  You won't because you have to agree with me that Tennessee is not a premiere job choice and the expectations of the fans and administration are out of line, resources be damned.  What good do 90k butts in seats do you when you don't let a coach lay down roots and build his team and culture?  It becomes a coaching carousel and you end up at the bottom of your conference.  Who wants a great weight room when there is no vision or signs of success going forward?

As far as grammer and spelling goes…it's a message board lighten up Alice.

As far as money goes, pointing out FAU's money issues has nothing to do with the conversation, I thought you were talking about your beloved Miami??

As I have stated in other posts I know some people love to spend hours formulating and rewriting the perfect posts (which I appreciate), I don't care that much or have the time but I am a hard core FAU fan.
