He interviewed at Texas Tech before USF even fired Leavitt so it is no surprise.

Leavitt was a maniac, but he started their program and built them up to a serious football contender in a very short period of time.  He had a huge ego, but he did get results.  It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks.  I think that USF is gonna regret firing him, but thats just my opinion.  One of the other big names I remember seeing listed as a possible for this job was Skip Holtz.  Really don't know much about him or how realistic his chances are, but as I said, I will be watching.  I'm gonna go check out the bulls pen to see what people over there are saying about all this.

I have a family member working at ECU and Skip Holtz's name has been mentioned.  I don't believe that is much of a move up except for the fact that USF is in a BCS conference.  Hoping he sticks around ECU a little longer and waits for a bigger offer before leaving them.

Also hearing reports that Rick Stockstill from MTSU is being looked at as well.

I think USF has a very good shot at Tuberville. As much as some FAU fans may not want to admit it, USF is an attractive program for coaches and it is officially a big time program. They are in a good area for recruiting, they are consistently competitive in a BCS conference, they have cracked the top 25 on numerous occasions, they draw fans, and they can afford to pay a named coach with experience (Leavitt was making $1.5 million so they can be expected to pay that for their new coach). It will be interesting to see who they land.

Nope, can't afford him- bank on it. USF could barely pay their assistant coaches and they are going to take a cost bath with the money owed to Leavitt after this ordeal.  Don't forget that they just took a huge financial hit in going to Toronto for their bowl game, too.

Tuberville was making twice at Auburn what USF could give him just in base salary alone, much less pay the caliber of assistants that he would want.

It doesn't appear that this is correct, if fired with cause (which they state he was) they are only on the hook for 67K, one month salary.  He had a base of 800K+ incentives,  you can get some pretty good coaches for that kind of money.

Well, looks like Leavitt isn't going to go quietly…and vow's to fight for his job:

"I'm in this for life.  I will do all I can to make sure I continue to work with these guys."

He can fight all he wants, it looks like they are in discussions with Holtz from ECU.

"Holtz is expected to meet with Woolard sometime during his stay at the convention, and if all those rumors floating around the lobby of the Marriott World Center are true, Holtz could be in Tampa very soon."

Stinks for ECU.

He is a COMPLETE POMPOUS ASS and is going to take the program and/or school down with him! At the minimum he in angling for a HUGE payoff to shut up and go away. Can they afford that, can they even afford to just payoff his contract, let alone the tens of millions it will cost them if he actually wins!
