106 yards (got dropped a yard - oh well) with only two carries in the 2nd half! Heck of a game!

Check out this quote on the AP article on the match up between N0.1 and No. 2 daft piacks;

"In fact, someone forgot to tell Redskins rookie running back Alfred Morris that the game wasn't all about him. The sixth-round draft pick, getting the start because of a rash of injuries, ran for 107 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown. Evan Royster (knee) and Roy Helu Jr (Achilles) both sat out, while Tim Hightower was limited to five carries in his first game since tearing the ACL in his left knee last season."

Pretty damn nice! way to go Alfred, welcome to the NFL!

That seems to be how Morris gets discovered.  He gets called up because of injuries and surprises everyone.

That is a great carry especially for a rookie.

The Washington Post noticed.

Redskins’ rookie Alfred Morris continues his eye-catching preseason running - The Washington Post

Observation deck: Colts-Redskins - NFC East Blog - ESPN

Chandler Harnish for a safety.
•On offense, rookie Alfred Morris got the start at running back again and looked very good. He carried the ball 14 times for 107 yards and a touchdown. He's exactly the kind of runner Mike Shanahan likes – he makes one cut and gets up the field – but he's also got some nice moves once up the field and that forward body lean you've heard so much about that helps him pick up extra yards. He needs to improve in pass protection before the Redskins feel great about him, but he looked good throwing blocks in Saturday's game, and it's clear that's a matter of reps and not ability or willingness. Tim Hightower is still the coaches' preferred starter at running back, and he looked lively as he got 28 yards on five carries in his first game action since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament last October. But they're bringing Hightower back slowly, and with Roy Helu and Evan Royster both nursing injuries, the chances are improving that Morris will be the starter for the Sept. 9 regular-season opener in New Orleans. I still expect each of those four to start at some point this year, assuming they all get/stay healthy.

Re: Alfred Morris to start at RB for Redskins vs. Colts

Got his TD run mentioned in the video highlights but they showed Luck to Hilton TD. I understand Hilton got shoulder hurt later - not good for him. Also nice to see him listed in the game leaders stats at the end - way to go Alfred!

Found this quote on Alfred in the USA Today story on the "matchup";

"Griffin threw as many passes in the first half as he had in the first two preseason games combined and benefited from the inspired rushing performance of Alfred Morris, who made a great case to join the 53-man roster with 77 yards on 12 carries."

Guess they only cared about reporting on the 1st half when the QB's played. Of course Alfred carried two more times in the 2nd half, for 6 and 24 yards!

As several sources noted, the story du jour was supposed to be #1 Luck vs #2 Griffin and although their performances were decent, a lot of people were talking about Alfred Morris instead.

Problem is when you have sources like SI and ESPN who just want to talk incessantly about Luck and Griffin and don't really want to admit that some sixth rounder from a "tiny school" had such a good day. Both of those companies are very… Caddyshack.

Re: Alfred Morris to start at RB for Redskins vs. Colts

Some more quotes on Alfred maybe being the STARTER come season opener in two weeks;

"Alfred has taken advantage of his reps. He had a heck of a game. We're going to see who's healthy. He may be the lonely soldier at the end … with the way things have been going." – Coach Mike Shanahan on sixth-rounder Alfred Morris' bid to be the starting running back ahead of veterans Tim Hightower, Roy Helu and Evan Royster, none of whom are 100 percent two weeks before the opener.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rookie running back Alfred Morris began training camp just wanting to make the team. But with Tim Hightower just having played for the first time since a torn ACL 10 months ago and Roy Helu and Evan Royster banged-up, the sixth-round selection from Florida Atlantic has made a strong case to be the starter when Washington opens the season at New Orleans on Sept. 9.
After gaining 88 yards on 25 carries in the first two preseason games, Morris exploded for 197 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries against Indianapolis.
"I came in saying (to myself), 'I'm making it hard on the coaches not keep me and I think I definitely helped myself today," Morris said. "I know what I'm capable of. I came from a small school, but I know my work ethic, my willingness to be great. I knew within myself I could definitely be a starter one day."

(Did not know he got 197 yesterday, guess he did impress the Coach - Ha Ha!) But 107 in just a half + 2 carries is still GREAT!
