On a side note:

Now that we have the highest pick head to head against a familiar southern rival, wonder what they have to say about this?

FIU's Antwan Barnes went to the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round, 134th pick overall, of the 2007 draft.

Housler spanked him by 65 spots.

Anthony Gaitor is regarded as a player who could go, then you have stretches in Greg Ellingson, Cedric Mack and Brad Serini.

Rick lol, I thought Housler being drafted would be great by itself, lol. The FIU comparison is just gravy? lol. The way you guys dogged him on this forum that he couldn't catch a pass to save his life, I'm surprised y'all back on the bandwagon singing his praises, lol.

Well, i'm not gonna dis him or get into the FIU/FAU comparison. Congratulations to Housler (yes, and to the FAU family  ::)) . I will pray that he succeeds and doesn't get "rusty", lol.

Congrats on Gaitor getting picked up by the Bucs, nice to see him stay in state.

I think this will help recruiting TEs in the future. Knowing about Housler let's them know they have the oppurtunity to be drafted. Plus playing in the pro style offense and using the TE a lot is an added bonus,

I wonder why you dont want to get into an FIU/FAU comparison  ::)

Nobody needs your prayers.  And by "Rusty" I assume you mean start as a rookie QB in the NFL on a team that had given up and publically admitted they did so?

Re: Housler to Cardinals in 3rd round!!

As an avid Bears fan Housler reminds me a lot of ex-Miami TE and current Bear Greg Olsen. I think Housler will really mirror Olsen with the way that he will be used by Arizona.

Olsen 6-5, 255, 4.51 40
Housler 6-5, 248, 4.46 40

Both have the ability to create mismatches and stretch the field due to their unique size/speed. Neither is a dominant in-line blocker. Olsen has better hands and is more consistent making catches.

If Rob turns out to be anything close to Olsen, he will be in good shape, and in line to make some good money in the league.

The key is consistency. Housler has the physical tools. He just has to make plays on a consistent basis.

First off, congrats to Housler.  I'll be the first to admit that I was never a big fan of his, but the pros and some of you guys obviously saw something I wasn't.  I hope he gets out to Ariz., tears up some yards, and shuts me up.  Congrats again to Housler and GO PRO OWLS!

Re: Housler to Cardinals in 3rd round!!

Statistically Housler actually had stronger seasons than Olsen in college. I think he is really going to turn some heads as he is really in the mold of Olsen and the NFL is looking more and more toward TEs that can stretch the field and cause mismatches against slower LBs and smaller DBs.
