Titans Open Preseason Slate Saturday; Keep an Eye Out for Rusty

Miami is that bad! Who is catching the ball? Devon Bess?

Re: Titans Open Preseason Slate Saturday; Keep an Eye Out for Rusty

How do y'all feel about the Locker promotion to starter for the Titans? Has caused a ton of uproar or support, however you look at it.

Just to compare the numbers through two games up there (in order of depth chart);

1) Locker; 11 of 24 (46%) for 101 yards (4.2/Attempt) 0 TD's - 1 Int.

2) Hasselbeck; 9 of 14 (64%) for 74 yards (5.3/Attempt) 0 TD's - 2 Ints.

3) RUSTY; 12 of 19 (63%) for 162 yards (8.5/Attempt) 1 TD - 0 Int.

Nice job Rusty!

To compare further, if you combine Locker and Hasselbeck's numbers they are 20 of 38 (53%) for 175 yards (4.6/attempt) with 0 TD's and 3 Int's (including a pick 6!). If those were Rusty's numbers he would be being crucified up there and probably cut already! Yet that is all they are considering as the starter up there, wow!

One step more in the comparison' after two pre-season games, if you doulble Rusty's number of attempts to equal those of Locker and Hasselbeck's you get Rusty with 24 of 38 (63%) for 324 yards with 1 TD and 0 Ints.! Those are NFL starter numbers I want to see if I am an NFL Coach! NOT the "struggles" of the other two guys.

A bad move, IMO…as they will find out.

The little bit I've gotten to see Locker play I have not been impressed.  My prediction is that at some point Hasselback will end up hurt, and then Locker and Rusty will battle for the start.  I'd be curious to hear what the recievers are saying about the move, seemed like a couple of them were liking Rusty a while back.

Come on. I love rusty as much as you guys but your comparing apples to tomatoes. They both might be red but they're no where close to being the same.

Rusty is putting up decent numbers against 3rd and 4th string guys. Some of whom may not even be on a team when final cuts are made.

I want him to succeed and do well but only fair way to compare is to see how he does against first teamers and starters on the other teams like locker has. Plus no team likes to admit their 1st round choice was a bust. Locker's going to get countless opportunities to succeed

Yes, we are not being very objective here.  Rusty has a pretty cozy job as a back up QB in the NFL.  Chances are that is where he stays.

Pretty Cozy indeed I would mind collecting that much and hanging out on the sidelines.

True, but then the standard is also, he has to play with receivers and a line who are not gonna stick while the other 2 QB's get the all pro RB, receivers and 1st string OL. Bottom line is the other tow have STUNK - only the Jets and maybe Dolphins have QB's this bad at 1 & 2!

I wouldn't put much value on pre-season. Even if Hasselbeck gets released, there's a good chance they bring in another veteran as a back up. Hate to say it but there's no way they're going through the season with rusty smith as QB 2
