It's rare.
Exactly…

He's having a great camp, and Hasselback is simply getting up there and doesnt have the arm strength. If Rusty isnt the #2 this year, he is positioning himself well to be it next year if he keeps showing this improvement.

Paul,Do you think that the Titans will carry 3 all season or maybe look to trade Rusty Smith to a team looking for backup QB depth?
Paul Kuharsky (12:00 PM)
I think he's be scooped up if cut, but I don't see a lot of trade value. They could try. I expect they anticipate Smith backing up Jake Locker in 2013 and moving Matt Hasselbeck after the season.

“He has done well,” Munchak said of Smith. “I’ve always liked him from the day we (first) had him. … I like the way he handles the game. I like way he practices. I like his arm. He has just gotten better. It would be very hard (to let him go). He is a guy who has continued to get better and he is great in the room with the (other quarterbacks).”
Munchak a strong believer in QB Rusty Smith
Now, if he can just get into a game again when it means something and redeem himself, things will be up the up in better ways quick for Rusty.

Judging by this quote, would say Smith is going nowhere…

Me thinks they may cut Hassleback and keep Rusty as the #2.
